What the club says: 9 Greens 18 tees – a great golf experience. The Castle Golf Club is a 9 hole course with each hole having two very different tee positions, allowing players to have a challenging 18 hole golf experience. With views of the historic Stafford Castle and the surrounding countryside this picturesque course provides their perfect package for all levels of golfers.

Making efforts
The club is making a real effort to improve every aspect. The course is playing well, with fairways and greens in very good nick. Friendly staff who always welcome you with a smile. Unfortunately, the pro shop was closed on this visit. It is a good venue with a nice bar and outside seating. There was a competition on and, being a nine hole course, the pace of play was rather slow. There were some beginners out on the course who waved people through. We all started somewhere and the courtesy was appreciated. The improvements being made are contributing to the growing reputation of this club.Reviewer Rating

Members Rule
The trouble with this course is that some of the members seem to think that the rules around the course only apply to other people. I have previously followed a 3 ball for about 8 holes before they let me play through, having been told by other players that they just won't let me through as they 'are miserable', then on another occasion one of that same party just walked onto the 16th tee as I was putting on the 15th to make me wait again, rude. On another occasion being yelled at by two women who were on the 9th fairway (I was in the carpark) to be told that the course was closed as it was ladies day, shame really as it is a nice little course.(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 103 Handicap: 26.4)

Fantastic day
Comp day. Weather was great and course is looking good. Greens have been fertilized and will be in great condition in no time. Course is looking very scenic coming into the summer season. Course is well groomed after the terrible wet winter we've had.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 97 Handicap: 21.1)

Was invited by a member to play at this course.I arrived early and so prepared my trolley and bag and then prepared to put my golf shoes on whilst I waited. Suddenly another golfer shouted at me to get out of the car park and change in the ladies changing area. Admittance to the changing room was by coded locks which I did not have.!!!! He then told me to go home and get dinner cooked as it was a Sunday, WOMEN ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO PLAY AFTER 1pm.

Having played this 100 years old undulating golf course you will find it is thoroughly enjoyable. The fairways & greens are usually to be found in good condition. Although only 9 holes, it is still quite long and many play with a unique flavour. The 2nd hole from the back tees maybe one of the hardest in Staffordshire. Note that the Stafford Castle Golf Club course is being currently redeveloped & turned into 18 holes ready for maybe 2014/5 with a new club house. This may not involve playing any of these current 9 holes now. As such, play now whilst stocks last !
