Closed

This excellent course has been closed by Rushmoor Council. Land is going to be used for dog walkers etc. There was a lot of Opposition to closure which council ignored.

Great little course, well kept and great value at £13 a round on a Friday afternoon. Only minor criticism is the bunkers were very hard and needed softer sand.

Course has come on leaps and bounds this year, the greens are what i believe to be the best in the area. My only problem is how slow and busy it can be almost every day at any time.

I wish they raked the bunkers more as this only seems to get done once a week.

I booked my round off the internet for £10 per person. (If I had waited it would have been £5). The greens are immaculate; they are so true that you had total confidence in your game. On the down side was that the club shop was shut so had no chance of purchasing water/drinks for the game and the clubhouse had no stock whatsoever. Overall though for a pay and play course 10 times better than Pine Range and fantastic value for money. Highly recommended!

Enjoy it while you can

This course potentially closes for redevelopment and its a shame. For golfers of all levels this is a great course in great condition. Its not to tough and fair for all. Great to introduce beginners to 18 holes of golf. It has some excellent risk and reward holes and a variety of tricky par 3s which are made harder when the wind is swirling through the trees. Its great value and never takes longer to get round. Clubhouse is good and staff are friendly. Be a shame to let it close.

excellent greens

Do not be put off by the short length, this course is very narrow and the greens are excellent. The course is tree line throughout and the rough is its defence as is the slick greens which really are credit to the green keeper. Very helpful staff in both the pro shop and the catering section. Well worth a visit

Southwood Golf Course

Great little public course in the north east of Hampshire, good value for money , in great condition and very friendly , such a shame that it is going to be bulldozed down in 2018 to make way for more newhouses.

First time round here. Good value playing at twilight on a weekend. Interesting course with various hazards and other features such as the odd tree that encroaches into the fairway. Sadly, appears course is likely to close in near future due to Council wanting to convert the land to something else. Get round it whilst you can.

Course in very good condition, and has vastly improved in last 12 months.
Be nice to see some fresh soft sand in the bunkers, but on the hole the course is looking great. Greens in particular are very good.

Only had time to play the font 9 holes, Course is well-kept in good condition and is more challenging than first appears. The greens are quick and fairways well kept, (beware of drainage ditches if you wonder off the fairways) the bunkers need more work (weeds and hard sand in some not all) looking forward to playing again soon.
