What The Club Says

Our par 70, 18 hole Golf Course is designed to USPGA specifications by Henry Cotton and Donald Steel. It is both challenging and enjoyable, featuring, as it does, a mix of hazards through parkland and woodland copses.

Because it stands on chalk sub-strata with a constant drainage system, we are able to offer year-round golfing on permanent tees and greens. The Coach House bar is perfectly placed for the 19th hole and offers all-day breakfasts as part of the menu.

It's probably five years since I last played at Shendish and it looks like that was the last time they did any work on the course. Lovely layout but that's all I can say, fairways were bare in (too many) places, several greens were threadbare and the tee boxes had no grass on any of them - not an exaggeration.

rolling fairways

Shendish Manor's back nine has lovely rolling fairways with tricky sloping greens.
The opening 5 holes are quite mundane, but I enjoyed the rest of the course

Desperately Needs a Water

Suffering badly from the warm weather. Greens cracked and patchy. Tee boxes sandy and bare of any grass

Great fun

I played here and had a great round. Yes the tee boxes have disintegrated with the relentless drought but hey you can still put a tee in them so that's fine. The greens were largely fine but there was some damage - 10/10 to the greenkeepers for trying their best to limit the problem in a brutal summer. Some of the holes around the middle of the course were pretty brutal owing to the uncontrollable rolls off the slopes but I still really enjoyed all the holes. Play it and enjoy it!

Short Course

The course is quite short, the back 9 is better than the front 9, tee boxes were in a poor state.

Good for a mini-break

A nice, not too challenging course and a good hotel on site.

A mix of holes with several short par 3's and since long par 5's.

Tee boxes were a not ragged and not flat but the greens were in good condition.

Interesting Course

Front nine played 'easier' than the back nine - although I managed score better on back nine (??)
Course in good condition throughout.

Hilly parkland course. Gemerally good condition. Greens had holes in from crows pecking at them. Again, bunkers thin on sand.

Very short and the greens were a struggle from 2ft

Good course for beginners given the length. But the greens were in need of a lot of tlc. Hollow toning and Scarification were definitely needed after the wet winter we had, but by the time I played (12/04/24) nothing had bed in. Ridges everywhere and uneven cut grass across the greens on most holes.
