A formidable course with tricky but tameable greens

Alistair MacKenzie greens!!!! First time here but putting greens showed the way. Sand on all greens but embedded. Couldn't stop ball on greens. Green slick but readable.

Great course in great condition. Lots of different holes and various tee options which were open to visitors (Try the Tiger tees if you dare!). Greenkeepers were busy maintaining the course and you could see the benefits as all areas of the course were floorless. Nice welcome in the pro shop and bar also worth a note

Lovely course, well presented.

Have played here a few times over the past 15yrs. In years gone by it was almost unplayable due to the gorse, however that’s all been cut back in recent years and it’s now a tough but fair test of your golf. Pre round toast is and beer were excellent quality in a well presented clubhouse (with relaxed dress code to a point). The course itself was lovely, fairways were firm, 1st cut was fair and the rougher stuff was well kept, not many places to lose balls. The greens were true and the ball rolled well, they were quick but not overly so. At £90 a green fee it’s a bit on the expensive side but worth a visit once or twice a year.

This an expansive and excellently maintained golf course with slick and challenging greens. The course isn’t overly long (we played off black pots) and the shorter holes do get you thinking. There are a couple of blind shots into greens which golfers don’t generally welcome but they just seemed to add to the challenge. This course is a fair challenge and we played it on a relatively benign day. The staff were very welcoming and the clubhouse had recently been refurbished internally to a very high standard. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Sandmoor

Played as part of a Leeds tour. Included Ilkley and moortown. Thoroughly enjoyable the course course with a mixture of quirky and long holes would definitely play the course again

Nicely laid-out course with a good variation of holes. The fairways had a good covering of grass and the greens ran true

Hidden Gem

Always thought Sand Moor gets overlooked due to the more 'known' courses locals (Moortown/Alwoodley) but it's a very good course and often half the price. We played just after a long down-poor and the course held up very well. Great varied mix of holes.
