Lovely 9 hole course in the grounds Windsor Castle. Not long, but a number of fairways aren't especially wide, and you'll be lucky to find your feet if you go in the rough. The greens are pretty small and in decent condition. The biggest plus is the 'back door' view of the castle at the 4th tee.

really challenging if not a straight hitter. Keep on the fairway. Even the semi rough is thick

The Royal Household Golf course is a nine hole course which has 18 different tees. The course is fun but challenging and you must be straight as the rough is extremely penal. They don't have green keepers and all course maintenance is completed by the gardeners from Windsor Castle in addition to his their other duties. The thing about the course is the location and the backdrop. There are very few places where you play golf in the back garden of a royal palace. Stunning.

Although very short the course is trickier than the scorecard suggests as the greens are tiny and apparently in the summer the rough grows high and wild. It is also pretty exposed to wind as it is high up in comparison to the surrounding land and on the day we played the wind was brisk. The course was well maintained as you would expect and the greens were very good. The 9th (and 18th) is a beauty of a hole with a long drive through to massive trees followed by a long approach to a green hidden in a dell. Was much easier the second time we played the hole. Given the course is in Windsor Great Park there is a good chance of seeing some wildlife - we watched some Red Kites hunting which was amazing to see such graceful birds so close and up (and also so close to Central London). Can't score value for money as you need to play with a guest - but I would love to play again. The members in the clubhouse were very friendly too.
