What the club says: Pyrford is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildlife. Ringed by magnificent woodland the fairways weave between sculptured mounds and the 23 acres of lakes, fringed with bulrushes, reeds and lilies, give the course its distinctive and unique characteristic with water ever present.
The 6,230 yard course is separated into 2 loops providing a choice of starting positions. Every hole is different and whilst the course may not be the longest by today’s modern designs a good score will require careful strategy and use of every club in your bag. The best players may well be tempted to take on the challenge of longer carries yet the design gives the less experienced player a safer and more productive route.
Different combinations of tee positions provide a challenge for players of all abilities and the unique design ensures no two rounds are the same.

Busy as always
Good course, but incredibly busy despite teeing off at 07:20.Back 9 much more interesting than front 9, which can feel a bit on top of each other.

Slow round
Greens ok, tees and fairways not so good. Some holes quite dangerous to play with adjacent fairways and too many golfers who don’t follow the rules. Very slow on a Saturday afternoon.Reviewer Rating

Great course worth a visit
Really interesting course - lots of water and a decent challenge despite being short, though low score very possible if you're hitting straight. Some areas not in the best condition because of how dry it's been, but greens were good, except for the fact that no one here seems to repair pitch marks - greens covered in them! I'd put a sign on every green telling players to repair, as it was a real problem here when we visited.Reviewer Rating

Tough Course but worth playing
A tough course for high handicappers. The title gives you the heads up that there is a lot of water so there is not a lot of room for error. Course plays well but the tee boxes are a little scruffy and the greens all had loads of unrepaired pitch marks which was a shame. Clubhouse and patio are great but practice facilities are distinctly lacking.Definitely worth playing but I guess it will have very contrasting reviews.

Not for the faint hearted…
… or the mid to high handicapper! It has to be said that this is a beautiful looking course, from the drive in to the well appointed and tastefully redecorated clubhouse. The staff are very helpful and couldn’t be friendlier (on what was my first visit). \\The practice facility is ‘modest’ but the mats look new and its irons only. It’s fine for a warm up. The course is well signposted and paths are good - I’ve played far more expensive courses in a lot worse shape, so congratulations to the staff at Pyrford. \\The course itself isn’t long, bar a couple of holes you could probably leave the driver in the car. The fairways are in good shape but show a lot of use in places, tee boxes likewise. Heavy rain when I played meant that there was standing water in places, not sure how it copes in prolonged wet weather. Greens are good for the most part, one or two patchy places and bobbles. \\Helpfully the rough was down at the moment, which is a mercy as fairways can be narrow. Given the amount of water hazards on this course, if the rough is up as well then this would be a perilous course for all but the most accurate. On that note - for me as a mid handicapper I think the design is just too much water hazard (feels like it’s water on 3/4 of all holes). Combined with a lot of bunkering the balance of risk/reward for good but even slightly off centre shots feels tough. Playing off 18 I still shot my handicap but lost a few balls in the process. Feels a little bit too hard work to be enjoyable unless you have super accurate iron play. Some nice par 3s keep you interested though. \\Overall this is a pretty and well maintained course and the staff and management should take a lot of credit for making it a must play course. I couldn’t be a member here as it just doesn’t suit my game but I can understand why plenty are. Definitely give this a go - at least once. Oh, and take a LOT of spare balls…\Reviewer Rating

The 9th and 11th are quite challenging. If you could make a par on those, you won't have any problem with the rest.
