What the club says: Newbattle Golf Club is a mature 18 hole parkland course with tree lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The layout of the course, with its well-protected greens, offers a challenge to every golfer.
The course, which offers a fair challenge to every golfer, is a 5912 yard par 69 laid out within the historic policies of the famous Newbattle Abbey and along the north and south ridges of the River Esk.

Top Inland Course
Played in the Mixed Greensomes two days ago, and like last year, same time, the course is in superb condition and what a pleasure it was to play, i did give it just a 9 for layout, but a 10 is reserved for Muirfield.For those of you who have not played Newbattle, then you are missing out on a great days golf, a great mixture of holes, none of this up down, up down, the 2nd is a good challemge to throw in early, and the seventeenth, could kill your card. Go for it, and you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful Parkland Course
This is a lovely course. A good mix of par 3/4/5 holes make it very interesting & enjoyable. Interesting tee shot on the 17th hole!(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 123 Handicap: 33)

Great views
Charity day golf outing. Course was in great shape. The greens were wonderful and the fairways cut well. Staff in the clubhouse could not be more helpful and pleasant. Food was great as well.Reviewer Rating

Course of two halves
This is a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde kind of course. Starting in established parkland with great old trees and gentle surround by the turn you are up the top of a significant hill almost in open fields. Going out you watch the OoB carefully before switching in course at 10 only to find relentless head-on prevailing winds to mitigate for much of the back 9. This is a well established club if a little dated and old-fashioned in areas. Must savour the 17th Tee shot !!Reviewer Rating

newbattle is a good wee course members really helpfull during the winter you dont play on fairway mats just tee boxes and winter greens untill the ground staff can be arsed going back to normal greens which was about 15 holes in for us also in the winter you dont play 1 to 18 you go from 1 to 7 11 to 14 8 to 10 then 15 to 18 to save on walking course was a bit wet under foot i would go back again £15pp in the winter aswell
