Some of the greens are a bit spongy and need rolled with a finer cut. But a tricky wee course none the less watch the bunkers on hole 3 from the tee, you don't know that they are there until you think your ball is on the green due to the green being elevated. You then see the bunkers as you approach up the hill. some of the bunkers are deeper from what I'm used to seeing

Great Starter Course

A short but reasonable standard course for those starting out or if you want to improve your game on a more manageable course. Generally level fairways and gentle greens let you play easier rounds and on a dry sunny day it is nice just to stroll and hit a few balls.

Course was fine for the time of year. Was not great value compared to other courses locally. Very good for sharpening up your short game.

I have played this course many times, winter and summer, though I am not a member as I like to play different courses. The greens at Melville are absolutely top quality, and you can see how much effort has been spent on the design and ongoing maintenance to get the course suitable for play in all weathers. This is not a course you will often find closed in winter, and their use of winter greens is very sparing. The eighth is the only hole which is much affected by the weather, and can be slightly damp underfoot. One of my favourite local courses.

Very nice course, pretty short, a little hard to get to if you don't drive, no bus route near it.

All the other local courses were closed on a frosty January morning. But Melville still open on the big greens. Obviously great drainage made for a really enjoyable hour and a half 9 holes.
