What the club says: The 9 hole course was developed in September 2004 and is a great addition to the driving range. With great views of the staffordshire countryside and a peaceful atmosphere makes Needwood a great place to play. The course is par 34 with 4 par 3 holes, 3 par 4 holes and 2 par 5 holes.
Small and fast greens are a test for all golfers and with tight tree lined fairways make needwood a testing course.

Mixed feelingsRange is excellent as is the welcome. the course is a nice tidy layout with defined fairways and testing rough. Fairways well maintained but the greens were in terrible (sorry cannot lie) condition. This may have been reflected in reduced fee of £8 for 9 holes - but better courses locally in that bracket.

Dreadful GreensFirst time here in 3 years - when it was good value and condition, was a regular visitor.
Now, the greens are awful. Those that were main greens were dustbowl brown, other temporary ones not much better. Winter greens in May ?
I read that there were issues last year - but now ? still ? after almost 10 weeks in which to make some effort to repair them ? - No evidence of anything being done to bring them back.
We adhered to Covid regulations, teed off on time. No one to check us, 2 others appeared just after us (booked ? paid ? - who knows)
As I left I saw others heading to 1st tee also all dressed in their finery, all the gear - were they aware of what was in store ? doubt it
Positives - it was good to adapt to very windy conditions and I hit a 3-iron (first time in bag for years) 180yds into the wind.
£8 for 9 "holes" - still overpriced.
At least now you know
Will not return
Great courseGreat course good value can offer lots of challenge when windy as quite open. Currently the greens are in poor condition due to slow recovery from last summer’s heatwave. Made putting challenging.

Greens need major workSo convenient to play here but the greens let down what could be a fantastic 9 hole course. Hopefully they will improve for next year.

Ian has made some changes in the autumn (water hazard on the 1st, fairway contouring on the Par 4's) which won't mature until mid-2008. These will make the course more interesting.
Greens are in great condition despite winter rain.
Excellent driving range, and Carl the resident professional knows his stuff.
