What The Club Says

The Club is set in the heart of Sutton Coldfield on the north eastern outskirts of Birmingham. This central position makes access from the motorway system very simple.

This mature parkland course was designed in 1932 by Messrs. Hawtree and Taylor, prominent golf course architects of the day. Well drained and beautifully maintained the course, with its tree lined fairways, is always in excellent condition. Carefully executed shots and tight control is necessary if a good score is to be achieved, especially over the closing holes, but higher handicap players are also guaranteed an enjoyable experience. The men’s course measures 6293 yards (SSS 70) and the ladies’ course is 5637 yards (SSS 73)

Wonderful parkland course

The course is in fantastic condition overall, The greens are simply outstanding, the best I’ve seen anywhere for years. Fast, true, and incredibly consistent, they are a real credit to the greenkeeping team. The approaches, run-offs, and tees are also presented to an exceptionally high standard. There is a great variety of holes throughout the round followed by a really tough closing stretch. What really stands out is the pride the members have in their course, and it's easy to see why. The presentation, condition, and ongoing investment create a golfing experience that far exceeds expectations.

A special golf course

I played Moor Hall for the very first time today, and what an incredible experience it was. From the moment you drive through the gates to the moment you leave, everything about the day feels first class.

On arrival you’re greeted with fantastic facilities. A wonderfully stocked pro shop and an inviting clubhouse sit side by side, just a short walk from the putting green and first tee.

As good as the welcome is, the course itself exceeds all expectations. Recent work to expand the green complexes has created some fascinating run-off areas on almost every hole. It adds an extra dimension that many other courses simply don’t have. Around the greens, you’re given genuine options: high chips and pitches, bump-and-runs or even putter can all be the right choice when played well. Reach the greens themselves and the challenge continues. Don’t be surprised if you’re faced with a 20-foot putt that features two or even three distinct breaks.

The variety of holes is another real highlight. There’s everything from short, testing par 3s to long but reachable par 5s, with plenty in between. The closing stretch leans more on length, while many of the earlier holes reward strategy and thoughtful course management.

Perhaps most impressively, Moor Hall achieves all of this without ever feeling intimidating to the average golfer. There are opportunities for players of every ability to enjoy themselves, and that’s something that sets it apart from many other courses of a similar standard.

The hospitality deserves a mention too. The members, bar staff and professional were all welcoming, and the atmosphere throughout the club was relaxed and friendly.

Overall, Moor Hall ranks among the very best courses I’ve played. Many courses in that bracket rely on 7,000-yard layouts and a grand, resort-style feel. Moor Hall takes a different approach, and that’s exactly what makes it so special. It has the feel of a traditional members’ club, while offering the quality of green complexes, teeing areas, bunkering and hole variety you’d expect from a course charging two or three times the price. I rarely come away from a round as impressed as I was today, and I’d recommend anyone with the chance to play Moor Hall to take it.

Great round at Moor Hall. Given the recent weather, the course held up really well – greens were excellent, true and fast throughout. Testing finish, with the par 3 17th a real standout hole. Friendly club, helpful pro shop, and an ice-cold beer on the patio to finish – very pleasant. Will definitely be back.

Parkland gem

Course in fantastic conditions albeit fairways struggling a bit with extreme weather conditions. Greens fast and true, approaches, run-offs and tees in excellent condition. Great variety of holes and one of the toughest finishing stretches since the Midlands. Course continues to improve working closely to the Masterplan created by world renowned golf course architects/designers Mackenzie & Ebert. Exceptional value at £80 visitor and £55 county card. A real hidden parkland gem!

Stunning Again

Second visit here and it’s actually better than last year and it was brilliant then. Some lovely changes to some tees and greens have made a huge difference and improved on what was already undeniably a great course. Wonderful mix of holes with great bunkers and teeing areas and the best greens you’re likely to putt on. Very friendly and hospitable in the club with some great food to.

Strong Parkland Test of Golf

MoorHall has and continues to undergo a range of improvements- Tree replacements, extensions to Greens & run off areas and new Tees to increase the challenges to both existing members and visitors.
The back 9 offers one of the strongest finishing stretches to test any calibre of golfer.
Green staff to be commended for their work with clearance of surrounding scrub improving the speed of play and overall enjoyment.
