Well laid out and challenging with the odd lake and downhill par 3.You need to be a Mcilroy to land it from the skies.

Expected to be frosty and hard

Started at 08:20 and temp was -1c but already a lot of the course was defrosted and so extremely muddy. However, Greens had dew and frost on them so could see the tracks. Course was drier from 12t (inner holes) Bunkers were a mix of wet and plenty of sand! Too many Par 5 played from around 300 yds rather than near full.

Course was unplayable, some holes half the holes closed. Water logged. Clubhouse and pro shop closed. Couldn't rent trolleys. Tee Matt's on slopes playing upwards and some with branches overhead, terrible course.

Played alright considering how the weather has been. 2nd hole was questionable what was going on, so played it from normal tees. Bit muddy but that's winter golf for you. Would play again.
Only real negative, arrived early for a coffee and nothing open or available.

Boggy after a lot of rain

1st 3-4 holes really boggy. In fact 2nd was actually closed or played as par 3 but we didn't see any reason not to play the hole. Fairways non-existent as mowers couldn't have got to them. Green s were good but a little "muddy" in places

A good challenge

Unlike the reviews of recent months, the course is in very good condition and the greens are excellent. It is a tight course, especially early on, with a number of holes with slight doglegs, which means you can leave your driver in the bag on many holes, in favour of your 200 yard club.

Nice established course

Lovely course in a nice setting next to the hours track, good signage and in a good condition, quite narrow on most of the holes, be prepared to look for/lose a few balls unless 100% straight ... a decent green fee and nice shop, club house too.

Unloved course

4hr 20mins for a two-ball is totally unacceptable. No Marshals keeping play moving. 50% of the tees were of uneven mats. 80% of bunkers unplayable with no sand and dead grass in. Greens were covered with patches of dead grass. ?25 is over the top for the state of the course.

Very disappointing

Played this course twice in the summer and it was great for the price, so was exited to return.m for a golf weekend. Even taking into account the recent rainfall the courses condition was absolutely embarrassing, and I felt really bad for recommending it to my mates. The fairway looked like it hadn’t been cut in weeks, and was the same length if not longer than all the semi rough and some of the long rough. Worse still is that it had at least a weeks worth of leaves on each fairway. I lost 6 balls in the middle of the fairway over 2 rounds. Really disappointing and will not return again.

Interesting course, not easy, plenty of bunkers and one or two water in front of greens so make sure you use the right club selection !!! Layout is varied but not over hilly and is easy to walk. There are lots of trees so aiming straight is important, if you can.

Great course

We played here on a golf break in early July 2022. 3 rounds over 3 days and the course was a pleasure to play. The tees are flat, fairways well kept and greens were in excellent condition. They played very slow on day 1 and got a bit faster over the next 2 rounds, but it was very warm weather. Some holes give fantastic views over the countryside, and it is interesting as you cross the racecourse to play 5 holes inside the course itself. Not overly hilly, with a water featuring on a few holes. The rough was quite short but challenging and you could normally find the ball if it went in to the wooded areas. You do have to be aware of walkers as there are public pathways through the course. Worst part of the course was the bunkers which had very little sand in most and were very firm so difficult to get under the ball. Also, the 17th hole feels a bit like it was added as an after-thought, but don't let that put you off. It's not a long course but it makes you think about every shot. No need for lots of long drives, in fact on many holes you probably want to avoid the driver and play for position. Overall this was a great course to play and I would happily go back. Staff were all friendly and they are working hard to make improvements.
