Shocking conditions!!!
Absolutely ridiculous price for what you get. Fairways are overgrown and the greens are like concrete. The tee boxes are solid too. Struggling to find anything good to say about my experience at this course.Reviewer Rating

Worst condition I have ever seen
Wow how bad can a golf course be?? Losing balls a metre off the fairway, 1st cut was at least 4in deep, greens were more like fairways, fringes 2in deep grass, tees even longer. We were told they had had some recent problems but this was clearly long term failures. So bad that we decided to play pick n place everywhere, in the middle of the summer!!! Shocking, if I could give 0 stars I would. Real shame as the hotel, staff and food were excellent.Reviewer Rating

Shocking
The course has gone completely downhill, it's clearly been neglected for some time. I certainly won't be going back anytime soon. If you want to play a great course nearby then try Chartham ParkReviewer Rating

Some good points, some very low
Managed to bag a 08:20 slot for a Sunday 6/4 which was a surprise but not being members, beggars can't be choosers.Arrived late but no queue- whats going on! It didnt take long to realise that the fairways and for that matter the greens were the worst I think I have ever played. So dissapointing!
The course is as picturesque after playing here some eight years ago...but all the love and care has gone. Fairways in particular were awful, grass way too long and greens super slow.
Its a tough challenge with tight tree lined holes. Individual holes would normally make for a stern but enjoyable round.
Unless I hear of serious improvement- that will sadly be my last round here.

Rip-off Shambles
In all my years of golf I have never come across a course in worse condition than Lingfield. It was disgraceful. Clearly no maintenance has taken place for months. The tea boxes were like the rough is at most other courses. It was a struggle to find the ball in the middle of the fairway. The greens were the worst part. Hollow tining is fine but you need to cut the greens and pouring 2 tons of the grittiest sand on the top makes them completely unplayable. literally one had to whack the ball and even then it went a max of 3 feet. We have videos showing scoops of sand being brushed up by putters. I will never play this course again and recommend that no other golfer wastes their money. £40 at that, disgraceful. On top of that not an ounce of contrition from management. repeat....do not waste your money playing on this dumpReviewer Rating

WORST COURSE IN UK- PROBABLY
As it is part of the Marriott Hotel Group I expected a well maintained course to play on for my £40 on a society day. .It is in terrible condition and obviously overplayed or lack of investment or direction for green staff. The Tees were scruffy and threadbare, the Greens badly needed cutting after being hollow tined, and many of the so called fairways were bumpy and obviously neglected. The race track was in better condition. Customer service was very poor after complaining.
Not told about state of course before paying and playing.
If you are a keen golfer or a society organiser, my advice is go somewhere else.

Great course
We played here on a golf break in early July 2022. 3 rounds over 3 days and the course was a pleasure to play. The tees are flat, fairways well kept and greens were in excellent condition. They played very slow on day 1 and got a bit faster over the next 2 rounds, but it was very warm weather. Some holes give fantastic views over the countryside, and it is interesting as you cross the racecourse to play 5 holes inside the course itself. Not overly hilly, with a water featuring on a few holes. The rough was quite short but challenging and you could normally find the ball if it went in to the wooded areas. You do have to be aware of walkers as there are public pathways through the course. Worst part of the course was the bunkers which had very little sand in most and were very firm so difficult to get under the ball. Also, the 17th hole feels a bit like it was added as an after-thought, but don't let that put you off. It's not a long course but it makes you think about every shot. No need for lots of long drives, in fact on many holes you probably want to avoid the driver and play for position. Overall this was a great course to play and I would happily go back. Staff were all friendly and they are working hard to make improvements.Reviewer Rating

Surprisingly good!
A real challenge as some tight fairways and holes, but loved playing it. Conditions were good and course and greens in good condition. It's a course that makes you think about every shot. Will definitely be back.

Tight, but beautiful holes
On several holes, leave the driver in the bag. Its tight and you get some wicked bounces off the side of each fairway. We played in May, course was dry and the ball ran and ran, sometimes into trouble. Lovely surrounding. Greens lovely, quite fast.Reviewer Rating

Better than Expected
Have played Lingfield for many years and was pleasantly surprised at a recent visit. The Fairways are tee blocs were well prepared and worth the Green Fee. The Green have been recently treated and need a bit of rain to wash away the last of the sand but were OK. Bunkers could be tidied up around the edges and would look much nicer to the eye.Reviewer Rating

Second visit couldn't have been more different. On a Golfbreaks weekend and the sun shone for two days. Course played beautifully.
Not a bash it and hope course by any means. Some holes are very tightly lined. One even tees off between overhanging, offset trees.
It only really opens out between 12? and 16 when you've crossed the racecourse.
Not a course for absolute beginers IMHO but a good challenge for regular golfers and low handicappers.
Special mention for the Marriott hotel staff too. It might not have been a race weekend and so was quiet, but they were all extremely welcoming and couldn't do enough for us be that reception, bar, spa or restaurant.
