What the club says: The setting alone is inspiration enough at Hever Castle’s 250 acre 27 hole course. Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, dates back to 1270. In 1903 William Waldorf Astor acquired the Castle and gradually added to the estate. In the 1920s the Astors created a nine hole golf course for their personal enjoyment, set around the Hever Castle lake and land to the north of Hever Castle, which survived until the Second World War when it was sadly abandoned.

Course in excellent condition.
Played in a match, the course, apart from the bunkers which were mostly being rebuilt, was in excellent condition, greens had recently been worked on, but were running true.Reviewer Rating

Great course in good condition
Hever Castle Golf Club - Championship Course: played on a hot Summer's day, when the course was in great condition. The rough was punishing and a good chance of losing balls if you go in it. Hole 13 should be stroke index 1 IMO, with water all the way down the left and trees on the right to punish any stray tee shot. Staff were very friendly and helpful and did everything they could to make sure we enjoyed our day.Reviewer Rating

Lovely Course
Had a lovely day at Hever Castle Golf Club, played the championship course, the condition was excellent, especially considering the dry spell we’ve been having. The greens were fantastic and true, lovely to putt on.The fry up breakfast was delicious and the 19th hole enjoyable too!
Really looking forward to the next time I visit.

Long course, hard work when wet
I love this course, but after weeks of rain it was waterlogged. Standing water and mud featured on at least half a dozen holes. (Nothing the club can do about it.) Greens were still fast and true. Long course though, even off the yellows. Lots of staff at the evening dinner and at the bar. Good practice facilities. Definitely will play again.Reviewer Rating

Shocking State
I can't believe what a state HCGC has become. I played it probably 5+ years ago and it was enjoyable but it has since fallen into disrepair. Mats on every tee, horrendous muddy conditions on all holes has greens that are covered in pitch marks. What a disgrace and the owners should be ashamed of the way this once premier course has been allowed to deteriorate obviously through lack of investment. How this place has any members I don't know because to pay close to £2000 to play this place must mean they have more money than sense.Reviewer Rating

Not in the top 10 for Kent
Golfshake need to update their review. The place is a disgrace for the price you pay. Tees out of shape and bare, I recall work done on a few tees a few years back, didn’t last long. Bunkers washed away, no drainage, balls pluging on fairways. Members are entitled claiming to have tee times when they don’t.
Greens look good but run very heavy. I played here 4 years ago and recall how the fairways were in decline , but the rate it is happening should worry the owners.
To be fair the kings course is very boring, no stand out holes, the queens is the saving grace for layout.
Poor course with decent facilities , the staff are okay. The pro shop people are not the fastest to assist. A discount should be given when the course is in the state it’s in.
All in all for the money - I would not return. Possibly only decent to play for a few months a year.
NO WAY NEAR TO A TOP 10 GOLF COURSE IN KENT.

I received a voucher to play at Hever for my birthday. I travelled from Berwick upon Tweed and the long journey was worth it. The staff in the shop could not do enough to make me feel welcome; it was a delighted to be with such people. The clubhouse served good food and the course itself was challenging in a good way. There were well situated bunkers and ponds to keep you concentrating throughout. The course was not too busy and you able to enjoy the experience in a relaxed way. We stayed at Hever Castle and we intend to return to the course and the castle next year. Thank you for making my birthday treat so special.Reviewer Rating
