Great surroundings, terrible tees
Greens running true and quick. General course condition for this time of year is very good.Bunkers are deep and play well. This is however where the good stuff stops. The tees on 90% of the holes are diabolical. Teeing off on a banana shaped surface is not what one would expect from a golf course charging £40.00 a round. Very slow play , Hever seems to have a large amount of pensioners tearing up the course slower than a turtle.
Club house is good and menu has enough to keep you busy, pro shop is small but adequate

Duff tees
Golf is difficult enough, why compound the difficulty by having terrible tee boxes. Surely one of the easier parts of the course to maintain. Yet 90% of the tee boxes are either slanted lett or right and a good many of them are rounded. Fix that and your course will be a 5 starReviewer Rating

Championship course still needs alot of work
The tees and greens on the championship course are not very good. Found almost none of the mens tees where flat or level, either bowed or slant left or right. Greens bobble all over the place. Difficult to rely on the path when you know at any time the ball will bobble and move of line .Pace of play is really bad. When are clubs going to learn that 8 minute tee slots are not enough time for a 3 bal or 4 ball. We had to wait at every hole from the 4th. On the 8th there was a 3 ball on green and another 3 ball waiting to tee off. That was a 10 minute wait.
Not ideal and there are much better courses in the vicinity

Swamp like conditions
Our society played the Boleyn Course (Princes nine and the front nine holes of the Championship Course) and can only describe the course condition as unplayable, nearly every fairway shot was completely plugged, the tee boxes were terrible, just a horrible experience. The championship course was much better so not sure they can blame the weather? Would only play this course in the summer months. They should have warned our society about the poor conditions before taking our money or at least give the option of changing courses.Reviewer Rating

Not in the top 10 for Kent
Golfshake need to update their review. The place is a disgrace for the price you pay. Tees out of shape and bare, I recall work done on a few tees a few years back, didn’t last long. Bunkers washed away, no drainage, balls pluging on fairways. Members are entitled claiming to have tee times when they don’t.
Greens look good but run very heavy. I played here 4 years ago and recall how the fairways were in decline , but the rate it is happening should worry the owners.
To be fair the kings course is very boring, no stand out holes, the queens is the saving grace for layout.
Poor course with decent facilities , the staff are okay. The pro shop people are not the fastest to assist. A discount should be given when the course is in the state it’s in.
All in all for the money - I would not return. Possibly only decent to play for a few months a year.
NO WAY NEAR TO A TOP 10 GOLF COURSE IN KENT.

Very dry....runs for miles and no grass
Greens were well maintained but fairways there was barely a piece of grass. Tee boxes ok. Course in need of rain...especially the fairways.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 99 Handicap: 14)

An odd place
Great layout (especially the back 9 of Champioship) but condition is very bad - either too wet or too dry.Members push in at tee times and course marshall is an old boozer looking for an argument. Slow play is a big issue on this course and seems to put everyone in a bad mood.
Not worth the trip.

The greens had recently been worked on so were bumpy and slow.
Clubhouse good.
Pro shop OK.
Nothing very special compared to other courses but a nice venue.

Played 18 holes on Princes
Princes is the third of three nines, with Kings and Queens (two other nine holes each) comprising the "Championship" Course. I play Hever once or twice a year, (and used to play much more in the late 90s) and I think Kings and Queens are great courses. They were closed for maintenance so we played 18 holes onj Princes which I haven't played for 20 years. It was in very poor condition with scruffy (bare) tee boxes, just mats on the second hole. Some bunkers were GUR but more neglected than being worked on. There are a couple of feature holes which are interesting and I thought the greens were in good condition, although pretty slow. I wouldn't play Hever again if Princes were included ; it is a good place to practice but not worth paying for.Reviewer Rating
