What the club says: Helsby Golf Club is situated in leafy Cheshire and only 7 miles from the Roman city of Chester. Founded in 1901, its 18-hole par-70 parklands course over 6,265 yards was designed by James Braid and today's course and clubhouse feature superb facilities in beautiful surroundings.
The course is generally described as parklands, mostly flat and with an interesting complement of trees and lakes and has now established itself as one of the best club courses in Cheshire.

Excellent course in fabulous nick, the fairways are a dream to hit off, when you find them! And the greens are true and sometines difficult to read, which for me is a good thing. will defo return.

Hidden gem
Course in super condition greens are fast and in a1 condition, must be accurate, as many greens are raised.Very friendly club

Course Great Members Not So
We had a society day booked here and received a late revision to our tee times as they had double booked us with a ladies comp. We all made late arrangements to tee off 40 minutes earlier and at a more rushed pace of every 8 minutes rather than the allotted 10. I am on the committee and we had a new member with us. We were on the 3rd or 4th and over a hole ahead of the first ladies group. Our new member was spoken to very rudely by a female member saying that they were playing a comp and could we please speed up!! At no point until then were they required to wait to tee off, in fact we were finishing holes before they were even off the green behind. Not the welcome our society and its newest member needed really. We had actually altered out arrangements to accommodate their mistake and our reward was a total lack of courtesy from the members. Due to the rudeness of these few female members this course will be off the rotation for 2023. And this is a shame. It is a nice course and challenging on some holes. A weekend away with Oaks open to finish
27th Sept (same day review) lovely welcome for the open. met up with 2 great guys from Wigan area. Nice setup with practice net and full practice area over the 10th tee where you can hit a driver :-) very welcome. the course was in great condition I'd say you need to play it a few times just to get the lines and area's to miss. I played OK and just a few miss hits costing me. greens decent and decent pace also. fairway placing in Sept not a good sign for winter golf here. some area's very wet already (my view only) enjoyed the day out and an open for £16 fair value. great little food hut on 10th tee MOST welcomeThanks to Andy from Ashton in Makerfield and John from Hart Common 2 great lads.
2hrs drive home, I'd play here again :-) says a lot.

Fantastic course worth visiting
Probably less trodden ground (and better for it) for Manchester golfers but worth a trip out for a characterful course with not too much slope but plenty of character on undulating fairways and fast greens.(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 111 Handicap: )

Always a pleasure
After an extremely wet September, the course was very good under foot. The greens were amazing as always, due to the fantastic green keepers they have. Can't wait to go back.(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 96 Handicap: 20.8)

Excellent course and venue. Very picturesque and a lovely setting. Course in great condition. Tee boxes and Bunkers tidy and well maintained. Greens excellent, firm true and fast, no pitch marks - just how you want them. Top course. Pro shop a little small. Nice practise putting greens. Cost was £20 as a guest member. No driving nets (that I noticed) to warm up was the only constructive criticism.

Great course. Played it for the first time and received a really warm welcome from the members who helped us around and were very cordial back in the 19th. Lots of forward tees but all the greens in play and decent condition for this time of year. Looking forward to playing it in the summer when all the tees are in the original positions - see if I can repeat my birdie on the last! Score: 92 Handicap:22
