What The Club Says
The course, which is kept in excellent condition and open all year round (weather permitting), has a well-deserved reputation for being suitable for all categories of golfers and 'The Common' as stated by Ken Brown, is one of the most friendly Golf Clubs in Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire County Scratch and Tigers matches are regularly played here as well as a full programme of Mens, Seniors, Ladies, Juniors and Mixed Competitions.
Harpenden Common golf course has eleven holes set on the Common and a further seven holes which were designed by Ken Brown in 1996. As you will see from the course planner, the first is a par 4. This runs past the clubhouse parallel to the 18th. As you move round the course each hole has its own character.

Enjoyable Course
Home club - looks easier than it plays. Greens around 10.5 stimp.Don't always need a driver.
Reasonable condition considering how dry it has been - tees and greens good.

Perfect Rehab
One of our group, an elderly player coming back from illness was comfortably able to play this flattest of courses with the aid of a buggy. Ideal. Bunkers were all GUR which also helped. Nice course & will return under similar circumstances. Greens were well paced & well maintained as were the fairways but generally prefer something less sedate.Reviewer Rating

It's not n common land so dog walkers wandering about was a little annoying but otherwise very nice course and friendly clubhouse staff served good food.
Only downside was only two tucked away practice nets and a long walk to the practice putting area

Nothing spectacular but just a very solid golf course
Played here on a windy old day. Course is an old style layout, short but by no means easy. The wind presented quite a challenge and there are some very sloping greens. The course looked immaculate but the greens were nowhere near as fast as they looked. MOst holes are straight with the occasional dogleg. The short pa 4 7th is particularly memorable, as is the par 5 3rd, where I ended up hitting across the corner of a B road!Reviewer Rating

Flat parkland course, slow play
Mainly flat parkland course, first few holes very muddy even though not much recent rain. A few interesting holes but had the overriding feeling of back and forth. Some enormous greens and greens in very good condition. Very slow players. Fairways being spiked.Reviewer Rating

Good
Fairly open course with a nice variety of holes including some quite tough par 3's. Some long par 4's and some short ones.Bunkers good- what is it with eyebrows? Grren were quick and at times difficult to read so dont be surprised if your puts swings away from the hole when you not expecting it. Excellent clubhouse.Reviewer Rating
