What The Club Says
Burhill Golf Club is set in beautiful Surrey parkland. The Clubhouse, a luxurious Georgian Mansion, is steeped in history and dates back to 1726. The Golf Club was established in 1907 by the Guinness family.
The Old and New golf courses offer two contrasting challenges. The Old course, designed by Willie Park and opened in 1907, is a mature course known as one of the finest in Surrey. The New Course with greens built to USGA specifications, is modern in style and incorporates many water hazards including the river Mole. Both provide an interesting round of golf for all players.

Mature parkland course
This was my first visit to Burhill, so I was really not sure what to expect. Although it is late March, we were told that ?preferred lies? (aka winter Rules) was no longer in place. Whilst there was no mud gathering on the balls, there were numerous bare patches which could have been ignored had Winter Rules still been in place. Over 6100 yards, and a par of 70, there were some very long par 4?s, and as it happened, we were also faced with a very windy day, making scoring more difficult. The best stableford scores in our group of 23 was a couple of 32?s. The Old Course has holes that unfold naturally across the landscape, with routing that is intuitive, and there?s a pleasing rhythm to the round. The par 3?s vary from around 100 yards to nearer to 200 yards (10th hole uphill AND into wind!). There are also some seriously tricky greens with wicked slopes, not least the 7th hole (stroke index 1).The standout feature is the maturity of the setting. Many holes are framed by tall woodland, giving each shot a sense of definition and purpose. It's the kind of course where you remember individual holes because they each have their own personality.
Clubhouse & Facilities
Burhill?s clubhouse is one of its biggest assets - grand, welcoming, and full of character. The service is polished without being stuffy, and the food and drink options make it easy to linger after your round. A big let-down on our day was the lack of hot showers, following a boiler malfunction which had not been remedied. Practice facilities are solid, with enough space to warm up properly before heading out. There was also a fair amount of work going on at the clubhouse, with arrangements for fitting a fully electric kitchen.
Overall Impression
The Old Course at Burhill is a classic English parkland experience done right. It's not trying to be flashy or modern; instead, it leans into its heritage, natural beauty, and thoughtful design. Whether you're playing socially, hosting guests, or just looking for a peaceful round in a refined setting, it delivers.

New coarse neglect
Played an event today through a media sponsorship company and was really underwhelmed with the condition of the new coarse.Positives.
Tee boxes in excellent condition.
Greens were exceptionally fast.
Negatives
The coarse looked tired, Condition of the coarse on some fairways and especially near most greens was a real disappointment, bear clay lies with no grass trying to chip onto a lightning fast green. Although greens were lightning fast they were not running true. Literally had to repair a minimum of 4 pitch marks every hole.
Comparing it to much cheaper standard coarses it just felt in kept.
I’ve heard the old coarse is in great condition so want to be conservative with my review but my personal opinion was there is a lot better value for money out there.
Such a shame as the greens were electric but condition was poor.

Par 3s are challenging but fun.
In summer the course is a quite dry but well managed greenside.
