What the club says: The course was designed by Neil Coles and Brian Hugget and opened for play in 1976. Whilst it is not a long course by modern standards, the combination of tree lined fairways and the succession of water holes makes it a particularly challenging course. Playing to your handicap is a real achievement at Silvermere.

Challengin pay and play with good greens and bunkers
Silvermere is a very popular pay and play which means that weekend rounds can be slow. But play midweek, as I did, and you can whizz round. This a challenging course: very tight off the tee with well placed water hazards around the back nine and finishing with the intimidating 17th and 18th which both play across a lake. Greens were in very good condition and the bunkers had just the right amount of sand to play good shots out of. The fairways were a bit patchy and very fiery but that is a consequence of the recent hot and dry weather. If you hit the ball straight you will score well here. Fail to find the fairways and shots will go quickly.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic course
Really enjoyed playing this course on a beautiful day for golf. Course in very good condition. Fabulous signature hole on 17th over the water and an equally impressive 189th hole. Would highly reccommend and would certainly travel from South Cambridge to play againReviewer Rating

No buggies
Surprised to book at 3.24 and then be told No buggies after 3 pm! Walking 18 in this heat at 77 isn’t much fun. When I complained I was told it had been like that for years and I should have read the T&C’s more carefully. The club facilities are very good but the course was unwatered and bottles and food wrappers in many places. With so many good courses with buggies close by, I will not be returning.Reviewer Rating

Worth a visit
Nice course layout, tight fairways, bunkers with good sand, greens not in brilliant condition, but only recenty undergone maintenance so to be expected. Great facilities for practice and warming up and well stocked pro-shop and discount store for clothing.Reviewer Rating

State of Course
Luckily the course was frozen, otherwise it would have been a mud bath, however because the lake was partially frozen, l did a ?BARNES WALLACE across the 17th and landed in the bunker.Reviewer Rating
