This was the last course of a five day tour in the Wirral and Southport playing Hesketh, Caldy, Wallasey, Eastham Lodge and Brombough. We were a Society of 15 players nad all agreed that this was the most enjoyable course we had played. Widish fairways that gave you a chance, good fast greens which ran true and some lovely looking holes. It gave everyone a challenging game.

The hospitality was first rate with a welcoming pro Geoff Berry and cheerful bar staff. The captain was very helpful and hospitable. This was the best value course of the tour

There are some long holes, with some very tricky long par 4s. However, the fairways are quite wide and reasonably forgiving, and the bunkers are placed fairly to punish the wayward shot. It is suitable for any level of handicap. It was in very good condition, considering the amount of rain, and the greens were slowish but ran true. The clubhouse had all the facilities you require as a visitor, with a good selection of snacks,a nd teh bar staff friendly. Overall well worth a visit if you are in the area.

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thankyou for the opportunity to visit and play your course on Sunday morning, my playing partners and I bought a 4 ball tee time at 10.00 am through Teeofftimes a week or two back not really knowing a great lot about the club as none of us had played the course before. My friends and I play a lot of ‘away’ courses despite all being members of local clubs here in the Preston area as we enjoy the challenges of a different layout and the whole day out experience.
Bromborough turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable day, we arrived and booked in the Pro shop where the Pro appeared very courteous taking time out to explain the course was undertaking some improvement works and the hole order changes to accommodate the works etc, time for a coffee in the bar overlooking the 18th with one or two members taking the time to smile and wave as they left the green bound for the 10th. As we readied ourselves and played a putt or two over the practice green a member waiting for his playing partner took an interest in us recognising we were visitors, he proceeded to take an interest in where we from, hoping we would enjoy the day and promising us we would enjoy the course despite the ground works.
We played the 18 holes and thoroughly enjoyed the course layout and condition, your greens team are to be commended for the condition of greens and Yes whilst improvement works were clear to be seen the efforts put into directing players around the works, over the works and away from them was superb, clear planning in to pathways, walkways and so forth presented a course professionally and considerately. I only wish our own greens teams could manage such significant works with such forethought and planning avoiding mess and damage which appears to have plagued us in the engagement of contracted major works in the past, Bromborough for me was a clear example of how course improvement work can be managed effectively without spoiling the experience of the playing members or public.
On completion of the round we went to the bar area for a bite to eat and a pint, a very pleasant club house, lovely bar staff, good food and sky TV, cant ask for much more. Whilst tucking into our Sausage egg and chips it was nice to be engaged and asked by 2 or 3 groups of members who played in front of us and just behind us, had we enjoyed the course, had we had a good day and giving us one or two words of appreciation for maintaining a good pace around the course despite not being familiar with the layout and hole order change etc, for which we were grateful, as we got up to leave they all bid us goodbye, thanked us for coming and hoped we would come back again sometime.
The whole day was an absolute delight, great course, great facilities, an engaging and enthusiastic membership clearly keen to show off what is an A1 course to visiting parties and a course management team who appear to know how a course should be presented and how to manage improvement works without disrupting the world, a credit to you and your management committee. So will we back again soon?, I certainly hope so, were all keen to return in the summer to see the course play at its best and whilst sadly we cant make your open later this year due to other commitments and Im sure by now lack of availability we will adding Bromborough to our 2013 diary of open events thats a dead cert.

Generally the course was in very good condition. The greens were playing a little slow, but given the time of year that is acceptable. I will look forward to playing during the summer months to do it proper justice.

This is a good course. The only problem is we had a Society booking of some 6 months standing in December last year which was cancelled by them at the 11th hour due to a regular event and we were told they should never have accepted the booking in the first place. A bit arrogant like that but a good course otherwise.

Bromborough is always in great condition. The bar is always busy as it used used as the local pub by many and does not have that dead feeling after 7 pm that some clubs have. The 1st is a short par 4 but with the road running all the way up the right hand side you have to guard against a slice. There are some long testing holes as well as great little par 3's like the 4th with a pond to the left of the green and the 10th which is quite short but tricky.
