St Mellion International Resort

By: Vicky Bruce | Thu 21 Jul 2011

St Mellion International Resort is a surprisingly stylish and modern resort with a great golfing heritage. It has recently undergone a £20 million refurbishment and now boasts a superb new 4* 80 room hotel that offers all the modern amenities you would require throughout your stay and features fantastic leisure facilities. The resort is one of the finest venues for a golf break in the South West and is one of Europe’s premier resorts for golf and leisure.

St Mellion International Resort is set in 450 acres of beautiful Cornish Countryside, in an ideal location, just 20 minutes from the Cornish seaside towns of Polperro and Loore. The hotel is of contemporary design with fresh and luxurious feel along with exquisite dining, spa and leisure facilities.

The hotel bedrooms are of a good size and feature excellent amenities with flat screen TV's, heated mirrors, oversized baths, power showers and Elemis products in the bathrooms.

It is home to two championship golf courses; including the UK’s first Jack Nicklaus designed Signature course, one of only three in England.

The Jack Nicklaus signature & Kernow Golf Courses are rated in the top 4 of Today’s Golfer’s resort list.  The signature course opened in July 1988, at 7,000 yards from the tournament tees it provides a truly outstanding test of golf. The high tees with good views of the fairways, water hazards and the requirement to place the ball to score well makes it an incredible course. Jack Nicklaus himself commented about the course ‘I knew it was going to be good, but not this good – it’s everything I had hoped for and more…. The Nicklaus course at St Mellion is potentially the finest golf course in Europe’

The all too often overlooked sister course, The Kernow, has also undergone major development in 2008. Starting with a long Par 5, the course winds around the resort challenging all levels of golfers. It’s the perfect tonic to the sharp teeth of the Nicklaus course and is an essential part of the itinerary.

Guests can select from two very different dining experiences. The fine dining in the An Boesti restaurant which proudly serves the finest of English dishes and the informal Bewdern Brassiere & Bar, which is great place to sit back and watch the sport on the flat screen TV’s.  St Mellion International takes great care to ensure its food is locally sourced. If there is room to spare in the morning St Mellion produces one of the best breakfasts in the UK, just try the sausages!

The indoor leisure club is well equipped with two leisure pools and one exercise pool. The Elemis spa & health & fitness club allows you to be as active or relax as you choose.

The combination of a superb location, unrivalled facilities & wonderful hospitality makes St Mellion International Resort the perfect golf break.
