Why You Should Play at The Springs Resort & Golf Club

By: Liam Moore | Fri 22 Sep 2023

Situated on the cusp of the beautiful village of Wallingford lies The Springs Resort & Golf Club.

The venue is located approximately 30 minutes from the centre of Oxford, with the surrounding Oxfordshire countryside an idyllic setting for a round of golf.

What allows The Springs to elevate from its competition is the unique blend of golf, accommodation and fantastic facilities.

Visitors will spend countless hours relaxing and unwinding at the resort, with numerous restaurants and bars that provide evening entertainment.

The Golf

The Springs

The golf course was designed by former Ryder Cup captain Brian Huggett but has since been heavily altered through an investment plan that was led by course architect Tim Lobb.

Lobb and Hugget worked in conjunction with one another in a bid to improve the layout that was already gaining good attention.

The duo primarily worked on the bunkers and lakes, improving not only their appearance but their placement and aesthetic appeal too.

Golfers can now expect well-manicured fairways, gigantic, undulating greens, intelligently positioned bunkers and a heap of water hazards ready to dampen any scoring opportunities.

As an additional bonus, all golfers will enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding area throughout the golf course.

The signature hole at The Springs is the 8th - a par three that requires a carry over water typically with wind playing havoc.

Anything from a mid-iron to a wood should be sufficient to find the putting surface, but the significant danger lurking is difficult to overcome.

Accommodation

The Springs

Not only will golfers find a first-class golf course at The Springs, but they’ll also enjoy accommodation options to mirror the course’s quality.

If you’re looking for a luxurious stay then you’ve come to the right place; The Springs boast a collection of rooms and suites to cater to an array of guests.

All rooms have been decorated in a stunning manner and each come equipped with amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs.

A few rooms provide guests with balconies or terraces, where golfers can enjoy sweeping views of the golf course or surrounding environment.

Furthermore, the resort is home to lodges or self-catering apartments, which should appeal to larger parties such as golf societies or tours.

These impressive offerings come equipped with multiple bedrooms, a kitchen and a living area for the ultimate base.

Additional Facilities

The Springs

If you thought The Springs was solely home to a championship golf course and beautiful guestrooms, you would be wrong!

There is a collection of additional facilities that can keep you occupied throughout your visit/stay, including the 1893 Spa.

This is where guests can relax and enjoy the expertise of trained therapists who are on hand to deliver treatments and help you recover from your round of golf.

Additionally, there is a swimming pool that boasts underwater ceramic beds for guests to enjoy when they are not golfing.

Golfers will be thrilled to know that the practice facilities at The Springs are exemplary, with a driving range, short game area and indoor putting studio all available to guests.

Furthermore, an indoor swing studio fitted with a GC Quad is ideal for practicing during poor weather or even enjoying a lesson from a trained professional.

Finally, The Ridgeway Restaurant is home to some of the tastiest dishes in the county of Oxfordshire!

For the summertime, it is recommended you enjoy your food on the terrace to really appreciate the stunning setting you find yourself in.

The Springs Resort & Golf Club does not only boast one of the leading golf courses in the area, but it is also a perfect location for a short break with numerous facilities for guests to enjoy.

From the sublime spa to the luxurious lodges, a trip to The Springs is one that is remembered - and revisited too!
