Titleist wins Foremost ball and wedge of the year

By: Golf Shake | Thu 16 Oct 2014

Titleist golf balls have already won 144 tournaments across worldwide professional tours in 2014, compared to 34 for the nearest competitor, and the franchise was in the winners’ circle once again at the annual Foremost Awards where it was recognised as ‘Golf Ball of the Year’. The feel, control and playability of the Vokey SM5 wedges continued the success for Titleist, with the latest family from Master-Craftsman Bob Vokey recognised as ‘Wedge of the Year’. The Foremost group is represented by 950 PGA Professionals across the UK, and the awards highlight their continued trust in the superior performance and quality of Titleist to meet the needs of golfers of all abilities.

“The Pro V1 golf ball franchise is synonymous with performance and has continued to set the standard across worldwide professional tours this year. Within the wedge category, we have been delighted with the response to the latest Vokey family, SM5, which continues to elevate the Vokey micro-brand and raise the bar within the wedge category,” commented Matthew Johnson, Titleist Brand Director. “To have been recognised by the Foremost members validates that our products are continuing to meet the needs of club golfers and club professionals. Strategically we have worked hard with our trade partners this year, to educate them and their customers around the importance of golf ball and wedge fitting and the role they play in helping golfers play their best and shoot their lowest scores. We are proud of our heritage as the #1 ball in golf and working closely with the Foremost group and their members going forward will enhance our position as a market leader.”

Andy Martin, Foremost Company Director, said, “Titleist continues to offer fantastic support, both in terms of service and promotional activity, and these awards are testament to the relationship Titleist has with our members, and also the exceptional product quality. The company’s continued focus and support for green-grass retail has been recognised by the Foremost members.”

Since its launch in 2001, the Pro V1 and Pro V1x have been trusted for over 2,150 victories around the world and remain the choice of more players at all levels of the game. So far this year, 20,395 players have teed-up with a Titleist golf ball on a professional tour, compared to 3,382 for the nearest competitor.

The Vokey SM5 wedges, launched earlier this year, are the result of development work by Bob Vokey and his team with the world’s leading golfers. Offering 21 different loft, bounce and grind combinations and six tour-inspired grinds, and new TX3 grooves, the SM5 wedges offer golfers of all abilities more ways to hit it close and lower their scores.
