McIlroy Trusts Titleist to Cash in at the Deutsche Bank Championship
Titleist Press Release
Trusting a full bag of Titleist equipment, Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x) overcame a three shot overnight deficit to clinch his fifth career PGA Tour title and rise to the top of the FedEx Cup standings. Firing a second consecutive round of 67, McIlroy posted a 20-under par total to finish one shot ahead of fellow Pro V1x loyalist Louis Oosthuizen. McIlroy’s win at the Deutsche Bank Championship follows fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Nick Watney’s win at The Barclays last week, and also cements McIlroy’s position at the summit of the Official World Golf Rankings. There were further wins for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the Web.com Tour, Japan Tour and South Africa Tour, as Titleist continues to be the choice of champions around the world.
McIlroy trusted Titleist equipment from tee-to-green to claim his third PGA Tour win of the season, including the Pro V1x golf ball, 913D3 driver, 913Fd Low Spin prototype fairways, MB irons, Vokey Design SM4 pitching, sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron putter. Despite having won his second career Major at the USPGA Championship three weeks ago, McIlroy has since added the new 913Fd Low Spin prototype fairways to his bag to compliment his 913D3 driver. The win also marks the second consecutive PGA Tour victory for the 913 drivers following Nick Watney’s success with the 913D3 at The Barclays last week.
As well as being the choice of the top two finishers at the Deutsche Bank, Titleist golf balls were also the overwhelming choice of the field, with 98 players putting their trust in the #1 ball in golf, compared to nine for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the counts for iron sets, wedges and putters respectively.
Elsewhere, on the Web.com Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Robert Streb (Pro V1) fired a final round 64 to capture his maiden victory at the Mylan Classic. Streb fired four consecutive rounds in the 60s en route to a tournament record 18-under par total, finishing four shots clear of fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Matt Weibring (Pro V1x) and Titleist golf ball loyalists Brad Fritsch (Pro V1) and Cliff Kresge (Pro V1x). On the Japan Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Kyung-Tae Kim (Pro V1x) won his fifth career Japan Golf Tour title at the Fujisankei Classic. Kim posted an 8-under par total after firing a final round 3-under par 68. On the South Africa Tour, Trevor Fisher Jnr (Pro V1x) topped the leaderboard at the Wild Waves Challenge to seal his fifth career Sunshine Tour victory. Fisher Jnr led a quartet of Titleist golf ball loyalists who finished within the top five places on the leaderboard and marked yet another victory for the legendary Pro V1 franchise, which continues to be the choice of champions around the world. These victories take Titleist’s 2012 worldwide golf ball win count to 122, compared to 13 for the nearest competitor.
A fifth career PGA Tour title for Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy and further wins around the world for Titleist golf ball loyalists, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
