The Belfry Scoops Four at 59Club Awards

By: | Thu 01 Mar 2012

The Belfry has been acclaimed Britain’s most successful golf resort at the recent 59Club Awards ceremony at the De Vere Mottram Hall where it scooped four awards for outstanding customer service.

The awards, based on consumer research conducted by 59Club – the golf benchmarking company and official supplier to the Professional Golfers’ Association – considered 59 resorts throughout the UK & Ireland during 2011 and put The Belfry out in front in four key categories:

  • Leading individual performance by a Golf Operations Team
  • Golf Operations Team of the Year
  • Four Star golf service venue
  • Best conditioned and presented golf course – The Brabazon

“To be recognised as the best one-off experience and also the best golf operations team for the whole year is something we’re very proud of at The Belfry,” said Gary Silcock, Director of Golf. “We’ve been using the feedback from 59Club for six years now to help improve the golfer’s experience and it’s great to know that, despite how busy we have been, the work of our staff is continuing to improve not just The Brabazon, but the overall Belfry experience.

“The award for The Brabazon rounds off an excellent year for our three courses and backs up comments we receive from regular golfers, professionals and the media on the quality of their presentation all year round,” he added.

The Belfry recently reported a 10% increase in the amount of golfers playing The Brabazon, PGA National and Derby courses during 2011, as well as a similar increase in the number of people booking custom-fit sessions at its PGA National Golf Academy. The resort’s ‘Stay & Play’ deals have also proved a big hit, with an 8% rise in those booking golfing breaks during the past twelve months.
