Leonard beats Dallaglio and Keating at Monte da Quinta

Lawrence Dallaglio and Ronan Keating were both left empty handed as rugby legend Jason Leonard emerged victorious in the pair’s charity golf event at the Algarve’s Monte da Quinta resort.

Former England captain Dallaglio and Boyzone singer Keating hosted more than 50 people for the star-studded three-day competition, in aid of Cancer Research UK, held at the prestigious resort on the Quinta do Lago estate.

Comedian Patrick Kielty, footballer Lee Dixon and rugby players Jeremy Guscott, Ben Clarke and Mike Catt were among those taking part, but it was Leonard’s tally of 77 Stableford points from two rounds on Quinta do Lago’s Laranjal course saw him finish as the top celebrity.

In addition to golf, competitors sampled the hospitality of Monte da Quinta’s various restaurants across the three days, including the final day barbeque and prizegiving, while entertainment came in the form of a performance from Keating, a jazz band, a Q&A session with some of the famous attendees and various fundraising activities, with the event generating a six-figure sum for the charity.
