Former Ryder Cup Captain Set to Host The Yorkshire Invitational

The Yorkshire Invitational has announced that former Ryder Cup captain, Mark James, will host this year's tournament at Ilkley Golf Club on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th of September 2025.  

Regarded as one of the most prestigious golf events in North England, The Yorkshire Invitational has always provided a great deal of entertainment and golf quality on show. However, this year it brings a whole new twist to its schedule.

Set to be played on the Wednesday afternoon, the tournament is introducing its Celeb-Am, where three players will team up with a sporting celebrity guest. Football legends Robbie Fowler, Lee Sharpe, and Gordon Strachan will serve as team captains, adding some star power to the event.  

The tournament itself is a Pro-Am set up, where teams will battle it out for the grand prize. The Pro-Am will once again feature top golfing talent, including professionals Fraser Mann, Chris Hanson and Ben Mason, as they compete alongside amateurs in one of Yorkshire’s most anticipated golf events.

Mark ‘Jesse’ James had an enormous professional career that included eighteen tournament victories on the European Tour and he finished inside the top five in The Open Championship on four occasions.  

Mark represented also GB&I and Europe in the Ryder Cup seven times and went on to captain Europe in 1999 at the infamous ‘Battle of Brookline’. As an honorary life member at Ilkley Golf Club, Mark is sure to make The Yorkshire Invitational even more memorable for all those involved - this truly isn't to be missed!

There’s plenty to enjoy off the course at the 2025 Yorkshire Invitational. The newly updated spectator area at Ilkley will feature BBQ food from Grill and Ember to keep your taste buds satisfied throughout the day. There will also be supercar displays from Lamborghini Leeds and McLaren Leeds. Callaway will also be in attendance, offering club fittings to guests, as well as giving you the opportunity to try out their brand new Elyte driver.
