Linn Grant Player Profile And What's In The Bag
Spare a thought as you read this for Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg. He took an eight-shot lead into the final round of the Scandinavian Mixed and somehow contrived to lose to Linn Grant, who started the day 11 shots adrift.
Grant became the first two-time female winner on the DP World Tour in an event jointly sanctioned with the LET. She shot a magnificent final round of 65 but the tournament was handed to her on a plate by Soderberg.
He struggled all day but came to the final hole with a one-shot lead. His 267-yard drive found the fairway, leaving him with 162 yards to the pin. A par would seal his victory.
Soderberg’s approach found the right greenside bunker. He managed to successfully extricate his ball, but left himself 25 feet for par - a putt he needed to make to claim the tournament title. Soderberg missed, but had 1 foot, 3 inches remaining to force a playoff.
Then, Soderberg missed the short putt in excruciating fashion, with the ball performing a nearly 360-degree lip-out. Soderberg tapped in for a stunning double-bogey, and Grant received the news of her clubhouse win as she prepared for a potential playoff on the range.
Her first thoughts were for Soderberg.
She said: "I have very mixed emotions. I feel honestly terrible for Sebastian at the moment. I don’t even have words for it. I can’t even imagine how he feels. At the same time, I’m surprised, like so surprised, standing here as a winner again in my hometown."

Grant was born in Helsingborg, Sweden, on June 20, 1999.
The grand-daughter of James Grant, a Scottish golf pro who emigrated to Sweden, she attended Arizona State University
She turned professional late in 2021 after an exceptional amateur career, winning the Women’s British Amateur Strokeplay, Junior Masters Invitational, Scottish Women’s Open and a host of other tournaments.
In an incredible debut season she won four times on the Ladies European Tour and a further three times on the Sunshine Tour. When she turned pro in August 2021 she was ranked fourth in the amateur world standings. In her first month as a pro she twice finished second and in December 2021 she earned her card to play on the LPGA Tour.
In February 2022, Grant won two titles on the Sunshine Ladies Tour in South Africa. In March, she won her First Ladies European Tour at the Joburg Ladies Classic. After a tie for seventh at the season-ending South African Women’s Open, she captured the Sunshine Ladies Tour's Order of Merit title.
Grant created a piece of history in June 2022 when she became the first female winner on the DP World Tour after a nine-shot victory at the Scandinavian Mixed.
Grant played only six events in her rookie season on the LPGA Tour in 2022, garnering four top-10 finishes in the process. Although accumulating enough points to qualify for the CME Tour Championship, Grant did not participate due to her Covid vaccination status. She said: "With travel restrictions to enter the US still remaining, it is still not an option for me to play LPGA events in the US. This is the sole reason I am not playing the CME."
In May 2023, travel restrictions to enter the US eased, and in just her fourth start on US soil she won her first LPGA Tour win in July 2023 at the Dana Open.
She has won six times on the LET.
