More than 60 players chose the splendor of Cameron House hotel or the comfort and opulence of one of the secluded wood and slate lodges around the Cameron House estate and The Carrick golf course for their base. Situated just five minutes from the Scottish Open venue, The Carrick on Loch Lomond provided the perfect base for the players and world media.

Sky Sports presenter Di Stewart, was on hand at the Carrick to interview enigmatic Colombian Camilo Villegas. Invited by Villegas’ equipment sponsor Cobra, the popular presenter got some insightful tips and when the pair reached the 10th green Di was given a master class in how to get into the spiderman position Villegas has made famous when reading his putts.

BBC’s cameras were also present to interview former Open champion Paul Lawrie.  The Carrick touring pro was hosting the Paul Lawrie Golf Foundation Golf Day which was attended by a host of European Tour winners including, Darren Clarke, Nick Dougherty, Michael Campbell and Thomas Bjorn. “I am delighted to support Paul with his charity golf day. We all do our best to support each others’ charities on tour. It has been a great day and I’ve really enjoyed the Carrick course.” commented Darren Clarke.

Director of Golf and Leisure of De Vere, Daniel Hodson commented: “To have so many of the world’s finest golfers staying with us at Cameron House is a testament to the first class facilities we have here. It is great for us to hear the compliments on their experiences and how it gears them up for the week’s golf. It was also fantastic to see so much media interest in The Carrick. The course is in fabulous condition so it has been a superb showcase week for De Vere”
