Morocco and QHotels Announce Golf Promotion Campaign

By: Golf Shake | Fri 02 Oct 2015

The Kingdom of Morocco has launched a series of golf-engagement events with QHotels, the UK's largest golf resort operator, to showcase the country's burgeoning selection of courses.

The campaign was launched at Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort, in north Lincolnshire, at the QHotels' committee members' golf day, which was won by a team from Oulton Hall, in Leeds.

Promoted by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO), the activity encompasses all 11 of QHotels' golf resorts and will follow up the committee members' golf day with a series of 22 member events, for both men and women - with each winner being entered into a draw to win a trip to Morocco.

Additional multi-platform activities will include marketing direct to the group's extensive database; and two informative and instructive golf industry days, to be held at the Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort, near Glasgow, and Mottram Hall, in Cheshire.

Amine Boughaleb, MNTO's director UK & Ireland, explained: "Morocco has excellent golf facilities but it is only recently that, as a country, we have begun to shout about it. What's more, Morocco is ideally placed for golfers - with flight times of less than three-and-a-half hours from the UK and Ireland - and fabulous weather which enables all-year round play.

"Working alongside QHotels enables us to circulate that message among all the golfers on the database of the UK's largest golf-resort operator and also to the golf and travel trade. We were delighted to be able to agree the partnership with QHotels as it is a pro-active and forward-thinking organisation which is keen to give added value to its customers and members."

His comments were echoed by John Angus, QHotels' group director of golf, who added: "The golf product in Morocco is underrated and is only now being truly appreciated by golfers - and golf clubs - in the UK. The Moroccan National Tourist Office is increasingly active in the golf sector, supporting a number of events, and the timing was ideal for QHotels as we look to continue to offer increased benefits to our more than 6,000 golf members across the group.

"And, from the perspective of the MNTO, QHotels is the ideal partner, with 11 golf resorts and a reputation for quality and attention to detail when hosting golf events. We believe this partnership will be of mutual benefit and I would encourage our members and customers to certainly consider the myriad charms of Morocco when contemplating an overseas golf break."

The burgeoning Kingdom of Morocco has 29 golf courses to be enjoyed in year-round sunshine - plus 11 more under construction - and, with short flight times from the UK and Ireland, it is a hugely attractive alternative to the more traditional golf destinations of Europe.

The AA Hotel Group of the Year for both 2014 and 2015, the multi-award-winning, four and five-star QHotels golf collection offers championship-standard courses in 11 unique resort locations across England and Scotland.
