Warwickshire Club Makes its Mark

By: Golf Shake | Fri 14 Feb 2014

ladbrook ParkLadbrook Park Golf Club’s drive to encourage the next generation of players into the sport has earned national recognition.

Officials at the club – which can be found in Poolhead Lane, Tanworth in Arden, near Solihull – are delighted to have been awarded GolfMark, a seal of approval for junior and beginner friendly facilities which play an important role in the development of the game.

GolfMark is a national scheme that incorporates ClubMark and recognises facilities that focus on Coaching and Playing, Club Environment and Child Protection, and Duty of Care - all of which are extremely important to parents and children alike.

Ladbrook Park’s new professional Ryan Burton has been working hard to develop the club’s junior programme, which includes a dedicated junior team and mentoring of the players out on the course as they become more proficient.

The club is also promoting women’s golf in the area and is running free tasters while also working with groups such as the WI to offer introductory sessions.

Plans for the future include the development of its existing dedicated practice area with covered bays and the creation of a short course to allow newcomers to the sport to develop their skills as a stepping stone towards playing on the full-size layout.

Says Julia Burton, county development officer for the Warwickshire County Golf Partnership: “Ladbrook Park has shown a refreshingly proactive and positive approach to attracting young new players into the sport and GolfMark is recognition of the commitment and determination they have shown while also providing them with a springboard for the future.

“Any parent dropping their child off at Ladbrook Park knows that GolfMark means they are in a friendly, supportive environment with all the right duty of care policies in place to ensure they can learn a new sport in a fun and productive way.”
