do you need the perfect golf swing to play scratch golf?
tiger woods once said if it works for you - do it. even if its the wildest of things.
Do you believe this will let you get a high level? (scratch)

It's not neccessarily the perfect swing, anyone know what the perfect swing is ?
I would have thought it comes down to replication, once you have something that works for you then can you do this every single time, time and time again ? Once you can then you can perfect your game.

I would say that if you can repeat a swing that will send the ball forward on the desired route then you should be able to get low. However, short game is another matter, this is a must to go low and I know it cos I dont have it!

There is a massive difference between 'the old boys' and todays golfers. We played on 'feel' and could move the ball round a course. The question of yardage was not in most players minds, the look of a shot was.
We could (and still can) feel what the club was doing at impact and adjust it for different shots. that 'feel' also aided the short game and if the 'old guys' had greens of todays quality, sub 60 rounds would have been seen often.
