sending clubs to spain
Has anyone used a courier service to send clubs abroad it's quite expensive on flights now to take them with you.

There are some flight companies that include the clubs on their services, BA and aireuropa as far as I know.
If yo want to go to Majorca, I have used www.holidaysinone.com and for mainland Spain golfbookingnow.es
Thanks

Not used a courier service but I have used the golf bag as my suitcase. I find that for a long weekend I can fit everything I need if I use the full weight allowance for the golfbag and the 10kg carry on bag. If you are going to go regularly then it is worth buying a baggage weight thingy. I always have one for when I travel. It is a bit more than the cost of taking a regular suitcase but probably cheaper than a courier service.

You can now hire decent clubs at most of the popular airports serving Spain & Portugal.

We had a disastrous experiment with a company that wanted to specialise in shipping clubs, in reality it just meant that they were boxed up and stuck on the nearest DHL/UPS/TNT van. We tried a UK and European shipment and neither of them were a great success - not sure about the price but I'm not sure it was any cheaper than taking them on a flight with you - my recent booking with Monarch was for £50 return (more expensive on Ruin Air and free on BA).
The problems we had were typical of couriers. There will be a delay, typically a couple of days, between sending them and them turning up at the club/hotel. The UK one we tried didn't know there was a difference between the hotel and the clubhouse, tried to drop them off at the hotel and when they wouldn't accept them took them back to the depot, luckily it only caused a couple of hours delay. The European one managed to get them to the hotel OK, but then send them back overland rather than by air as requested - they took 8 or 9 days to get them back.
I'd stick with the flight option if I were you.

Same as Monarch then, both 20kg limit. BA is free and is up to 23kg Only problem appears to be Ryanair which is £50 e/w. Robbing bas....

Adam recently went on a trip to Spain and tried out the Clubstohire service which was pretty impressive. If you are happy with playing with any clubs which are not your own but of decent quality then it's an option.
Read more about Clubstohire in Adam's article he did:
