Fantastic course, but challenging

We played the course on February 11, 2018, and were fortunate enough to have loads of sunshine and a temperature of 20 degrees C. All the rave reviews are true; it really is a fantastic layout with well thought-out holes in the centre of what feels like an arena of surrounding hills/mountains, between which you get fantastic views over the countryside. Despite the good weather and it being a Sunday, the course was sparsely populated. Just about every hole offers spectacular vistas and requires a good shot off the tee to keep you out of trouble. Many fairways slope quite dramatically, so you find yourself having to aim shots well off centre to make sure they do not roll off, in which case you may end up 60m off course. The greens are fast, slopng and hard to read - I found it very difficult to stop the ball on them.

A final comparison: anyone who has ever played Black Mountain in Thailand will feel right at home here - the courses and settings are very similar. Whatever you do, don‘t miss it if you are in the area.

This really is one of my top favourite courses,

Absolutely one of the best courses I've ever played,
Beautifully carved out in the hills of the seierra Nevada amongst the orange and lemon groves
A real challenge on an immaculately cared for course,
Keep this one quiet as to many players would ruin the peace and tranquillity of this superb course
My new favourite ??????

Golfshake Team ReviewWow!!!! What an amazing golf course. Without sounding like a kn*b I have played loads of courses in loads of countries and this takes some beating. My playing partners were so intimidated on arrival looking down on the course 100 feet below the terrace they wanted to go home! there is so many fountains, bunkers that it is intimidating. watch the videos of the drone fly passes and you will talk yourself out of it. but on the ground itself it is just amazing. Some of the tee shots are just breath taking. you take straight down a few hundred fet to the fairway, and out over the vineyards. easily the best courfse I have played in years. Yeah OK the club house is a bit basic but the golf is heaven. mind you it is still treacherous and lost 5 balls in 3 holes! go and enjoy it.

Played this course on numerous occasions and, in my vuew is easily the jewel in the crown of Costa Blanca Golf. If only some of the visitors treated the greens with some respect in repairing pitch marks it could be even better!

Normally exceptional but today the greens were heavily sanded after routine maintenance, which the club gave a healthy discount for! Normally I wouldnt factor this in but for the first time, there were other quite bare patches around some of the greens. La Galiana has a well-deserved excellent reputation for its immaculate condition, ignoring the greens, I do hope this isnt the beginning of lower general standards?

Since La Galiana opened for business a couple of years back it has become a firm favourite on the boys golf weekenders. Have played it quite a few times now and it really is getting better every time.

Up in the mountains means awesome views and a buggy thrown in. From the first tee (which used to be the 10th) the course can feel a bit daunting due to the terrain. The start is however a little more gentle than it used to be - take a look over to the knee-knocking 10th tee to see one of the best golf tee / views anywhere.

Driving off on many holes needs good positioning, often to the extremity in order to run back in to the centre of the fairway. Shots in to the green are often blind so investing in Golfshot or similar App can be a real bonus especially for those used to yards rather than meters.

With care and plenty of respect playing to handicap is possible, although on the first outing that seemed a tall order. Too many great holes to run through them all but suffice to say this is top, top course. Combine it with El Saler and Oliva Nova and you have the makings of the best weekend of golf you can imagine.

Stunning course. Great condition. Great value. This is a must play if you visit this area. Played El Bosque which was in poor condition, Oliva Nova, good course but very expensive and busy then came here to La Galiana and we wished we hadnt wasted our time at the other courses. Club house is very basic but I travel to play golf and this is golf heaven, you will not be disappointed.
