Great course for short practice, greens could be better but it's great see someone working here who genuinely cares he should get 5 star

Further to my last review, in2013. I still play every week at this coarse, but I have to say the fairways have been neglected for so long it\'s just impossible to have a serious game, I know the weather has been pretty bad, but the fairways could have been done sooner ,and left for too long, the grass at the present time is at least 4 inches high the amount of balls lost is unbelievable !, No matter how many times people complain nothing is done about it ! We pay our annual subs on time, and get nothing in return.. it\'s a crying shame, but I will keep on playing regardless come hell or high water.what more can a pensioner do ?

Insanely cheap

For ?4.10 for a student 18 holes, it's a steal for someone practising approach/short game.

They desperately need to get the 6th hole back (currently out of action), but no complaints otherwise. Greens are ropey, but for the price you can't expect much more.

Player here for nine years.

Going steadily down hill ,sorry to see the fairways so unattended for so long ,summertime as well, kids allowed to dig up the greens ,and run amok during the holidays,. A real shame, needs a remedy of the regulars will disappear .????

A green urban oasis offering pitch and putt type golf and the chance to learn and hone your iron game. Some of the longer holes justify a fairway wood off the tee. To put my experience into context I was only charged £3 as a senior for 18 holes albeit on winter greens and shortened holes. The winter greens were nothing more than a place to aim at a flag and will do nothing for your game. Must be said however that the summer greens appeared to have had some organised winter prep work. Hard to locate the tees even with a map, to the extent that I gave up and just played random holes with the course empty. No bunkers on the course that I saw. Not a serious golf outlet but places like this are vital to enable people to try the game and /or develop. Beware of children and loose running dogs etc. Hey for £3 its a chance to have a few swings in a nice parkland area..

Poor course, divots are never replaced, greens are slow, fairways may as well be rough. However it's cheap and a great place to learn how you play golf and use your irons.

It is a simple pitch and putt course, quite flat, with no real hazards/water features/bunkers but it is extremely good value for money being £110 per year! There are basic facilities (toilet and a tuck shop), the staff member I saw seems nice, its a nice walk and a chance to practice. As an absolute novice, who wants to have a relaxing (not frustrating) game on a tight budget and being local, it's ideal for what will be my first year in golf.

As a senior and watching the pennies, i have been playing the 18 holes at Shelthorpe getting on for 4 years now, Summer and WINTER in all conditions and on the whole it has served my game very well, Chris on the gate and Alan at weekends have always been helpfull and allways make you feel welcome , last Summer the greens had improved a lot, as the local groundsmen had made an extra effort, to this end. this winter has been boggy to say the least but where hasn't , ive played a few times on more expensive golf clubs, in this country and abroad, but i must say the yearly fe i pay for Shelthorpe is really good value, it's not Bay Hill or Wentworth but its somewhere i value and long may it reign.
