Emerging from a wet winter, the first finding is how good the greens are. Exemplary. Fairways were pretty good too but the areas just off the fairways were still bare in places & patchy. Bunkers too had very shallow sand & the ball could be picked off from the top as insufficient sand to splash out. Practices facilities seemed to be roped off & I couldn’t find any nets either.

Very enjoyable!

Beautiful course, good flow the 9th was a bit challenging for me. Cosy club house, good choice of drinks at a very fair price. Had a nice chat with Brendon and Chris from the bar. The food was delicious and extremely reasonably priced. I had a lovely burger and my friend had the soup of the day, tomato soup, which I had to try and truly enjoyed. Got the pleasure of saying hi to the two wonderful chefs, George and Noah who are very skilled, passionate and polite. I am considering a membership and will be returning for the course, food and drinks. Young, skinny guy with unpleasant face in pro shop did not pay any attention when I walked in and kept playing with his phone. He was the only thing that let the club down. Thank you OFM!

I haven't played this for some years but revisisted last week. Some holes have changed a bit such as moving the tee back on 11. Loved playing here. Greens and fairways were good but bunkers could be better. If you venture into the rough you will do well to find it, let alone play it- it is very deep.
Nice clubhouse with friendly staff. I will be back.

What has happened to this wonderful course ?

The greens on the first 9 were some of the worst I have played this year. They has been sanded and looked diseased. Bobbly and did not run true. Fairways were scruffy, grass was too long. Loads and loads of trackmarks from what looked like heavy machinery. Although I did not go in one, the bunkers are filled with builders sand. Poor asthetic and performance.

It is a real shame as I love the course. I have played it many a time, but after a long break this was shockingly bad.

The layout is great. Front 9 more interesting than the back nine. Lots of gorse etc. Fairways strategically narrow in many places so there is a real choice over weather to hit driver. Green complexes are all interesting. Some undulating, some sloped back to front, some front to back. A real challenge to get it to stick - especially with the firmness of the greens. Take one club more and 3/4 swing to run it on would be my general advice. Interestingly, I feel the par 4's to be the real strength of the course. Par 3's and 5's largely forgettable.

Note - Hole 11 is very much out of place and it feels very disjointed - is this an alteration ?

In summary - I commend the club for keeping green fees low, although I would prefer to pay 'slightly' more if it meant the fundamental issues were sorted out. Sort out the conditioning and this would be a very fine course.

Nice course

Very enjoyable course to play despite a lot of standing water and very soggy patches. Greens in good condition but bunkers more like ground under repair! Very attractive outlook from many tee boxes - a definite “one to play”
Staff excellent - very friendly and efficient

Turned up at the course at 07 15 hoping for a coffee & something to eat before our 08.12 tee time, but nothing was open. There were staff in the pro shop but they ignored us until 08.00. The course itself was fantastic, a bit wet in places, but given the amount of rain the night before we expected that, the greens were I superb condition though. Went into the clubhouse for a drink after the round & the staff were extremely friendly, such a contrast to our earlier experience in the pro shop.
