What the club says: South Course (La Manga Golf Club)
Originally designed by Robert Putman and modified by Arnold Palmer, the South Course has undergone a complete refurbishment over the last couple of years. The main changes include more water hazards, tree plantation and green alterations and has seen it become much more of a challenge to the discerning golfer. The course is located in the centre of the valley and features wide palm-fringed fairways, a number of strategically positioned bunkers and plenty of cunning water hazards. The front nine is probably the tougher, with two par 3s measuring over 215 yards and some daunting par 4s, many of which demand accurate driving between lakes and bunkers.
18 holes. Par 73. 6998 yards. Parkland.
North Course (La Manga Golf Club)
The North Course is slightly shorter than the South but has tighter fairways and larger greens. This undulating course is positioned between palm trees, lakes and barrancas (natural gullies) with precision rather than length required to score well. Built to USGA specification, the amount of movement in the greens adds to the challenge, especially the short par 3 2nd, which has three different tiers.
18 holes. Par 71. 6289 yards. Parkland.
West Course (La Manga Golf Club)
Set amongst La Manga's pine woodland, the West Course offers a great alternative to the other, more classical championship courses. This undulating layout can be very deceiving, with the frequent changes in elevation making club selection the crucial factor to scoring well. The front nine is very tight and demands accurate driving if you are to stay clear of the barrancas. The back nine is much more open but still manages to offer a decent challenge. Set up amongst the hills, the West Course is a favourite with guests because of the wonderful views and the challenge offered by the course.
18 holes. Par 73. 6527 yards. Parkland.

Great courses and facilitiesWest course - Short and very tricky. You have to think your way around. Tip - Get a course planner. Located away from North and South and fewer facilities
South Course - long and interesting with great views. Fantastic condition
North Course - similar to South but some greens in poor condition (possibly diseased)
Great facilities at North and South
West CourseCourse was in good condition in early October, with firm but receptive greens. Found this to be very narrow and testing of tee shots and approach shots. Course management is crucial as there is only opportunity to hit driver on one or two holes for an average length hitter. Greens were small and well protected by trees, hazards and bunkers. Most definitely the hardest of the La Manga courses and particularly hard for low handicappers as there is no leeway for error.\\Having said this, it was a good challenge and would definitely like to play again.
South CoursePlayed in October. Weather was a warm 25 degrees and course was relatively busy. Found the ‘championship’ course to be fair. Testing ball striking mostly but with good opportunities for birdies. Rewards accurate driving and does offer the ability to take more risky lines in return for greater chances at birdie.

The whole La Manga offering , golf and non golf,is as good as you can have anywhere.
Nice technical courseQuite warm when walking round. Make sure you have plenty of drinks with you. Busy even at this time of year. Greens like a proverbial billiard table - too firmly hit and it went miles, too softly hit and the grain of the grass takes it off-line very easily. Not sure I'd like to play it when the mozzies are out.

Touch of classCan't help but be impressed by the surroundings. Practice facilities are excellent as is the clubhouse. Our hosts got a great deal which was the icing on the cake for a great golfing holiday comprising La Manga, Alhama and El Valle. Course was superb, albeit challenging. The rough was extremely punishing. Lower handicappers were perturbed that there appeared to be no first cut on lots of holes. Rolling off the fairway made for an impossible shot, sometimes even a lost ball. Scored 28 points off a 16 hcp.

La Manga NorthPlayed the North course last week. Great layout and fairways in top condition. However, greens were not in great condition and no one seems to repair pitch marks! Also, 5 and a half hours for a round. Every hole we had to wait for the group in front to tee off. It was not their fault, everyone had the same issue. My feeling was it was overbooked and overplayed. For the money they charge they need to look at the speed of play or how many people they let onto the course. Shame because this was a venue I always wanted to play but I won't rush back.
Fantastic courseFirst time I've played at La Manga Club and I played thenorth course first. Right from the first tee you feel good about this course and it doesn't disappoint! Course management is key here to having an enjoyable day it's a must play!!
