What the club says: The course is characterised by tree lined fairways, fast undulating greens, and good putting surfaces. With only one par five, a series of long par fours and five tricky par three’s there are few easy birdie opportunities. It presents challenges to golfers of all abilities that will long remain in the memory.

Best condition I have seen it
We played this in early October 2024 on a lovely autumn afternoon. The fairways were mowed with diamonds shapes, greens perfect and key areas are now being protected by roping and fencing which makes a massive difference to the quality of this course. I was really pleasantly surprised at how good the course looked and with a member I paid £22 which was an absolute bargain. I would say this was the best quality course I have played since 1st September which has included courses over £100. The only reason I gave it nine stars instead of ten is because of the amount of crossover holes there are, which is not a massive issue unless you are playing people who are so bad that you are in danger when they tee off! but I would definitely play this course again in this condition. A hidden gem I would say, play it and you will not regret it.Reviewer Rating

Temp tees and temp greens abound
After a heavy raining March, most holes have temporary greens and temporary tees. However, a lof of the normal greens looked good to use. Course cost was reduced to £15.Reviewer Rating

A very well kept course ,, very friendly members ,, a must play for every golfer, greens well kept and fairways lined with trees but not to tight so only punished if you do a bad shot

Good autumn play
Friendly and efficient staff in shop.Small practice greens that play different to course. 2 practice nets.
Course was in great condition. Not rushed. Foursome Complated in 4 hours.

Great course worth playing
First time playing at Wortley GC. Reasonable green fee. Friendly welcome in pro shop. Nice looking clubhouse. 1st tee a little walk away. Course in great condition considering dry weather recently. Greens superb, amongst the best I've played on this year. Course well laid out with good variety of holes. A few inclines but nothing to exhaustive. Friendly members. Disappointed
Heard great things about this course. Booked on to play in a summers evening and wasn't told it was green maintenance week. Ive no problem with that but a bit of warning when I booked my tee time would be nice. Hats off to the lady in the pro shop she got us on for a heavily discounted price. Played this course for the 1st time in 25 years and I can say I won't wait another 25 till I play it again,The course itself is in cracking nick with some well thought of holes it's not the longest course but it's still a stiff test of golf with the undulating land.Reviewer Rating

Not to be missed
Excellent course, got to get out there with your big guns if your gonna get on greens in regulation Once you've done that, then the greens are fast but trueand a game in themselves. Definitely play there again.

Testing short course
The course is very well kept, greens were extremely fast when we visited but in excellent condition.We booked using golf now and for ?20 I would highly recommend. (Not sure I would say it's worth the ?40 price listed on the website)
Quite hilly in places, blind shots and some tees hit over the previous green so in cases where the group in front is still in reach, it can back up with group behind approaching green. (That being said it took 3hrs 50mins but it did feel slower due to waiting on many tees)
Pro shop was well stocked and practice nets and green were handy and well maintained.

Society day
Wanted to play this course for ages and was no disappointed the staff were very polite and very helpful the breakfast was very good the course was great a very good layout the fairways were very good the greens were fantastic very fast and very true if u get the chance to play wortley go and play it you will not be disappointed(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 82 Handicap: 8.4)

well worth a visit. challenging course
Played Wortley today (good Friday) course in excellent condition, especially the greens. Fairways a little patchy in places but think like any other course it is still recovering from last years dry spell, Every hole different and challenging. Nothing boring about this course and would highly recommend to any golfer. High praise to groundskeepers and big thank you to pro shop and clubhouse for making us feel very welcome. Will be playing the course again in the near future and looking forward to it. (hopefully a better back 9??)Well done Wortley and thanks again
