What the club says: Workington Golf Club was established in 1893 the club boasts a James Braid designed 18 hole course that is situated on the Western coast of Cumbria on the fringe of the Lake District National Park. The course is an undulating course punctuated by the deeply incised valley of a small beck. So, while there are not many "hanging lies" there are some steep contours to be negotiated when the beck is crossed at holes 4,6,7,10,11 and 13. This makes for some challenging golf with the greens at the 7th and 13th being daunting targets.

A Hidden Braid Gem

Really liked the mix of holes, although some a little quirky, especially on the back nine, but that only adds to the attraction. Particularly liked the tee shot on the 5th. Greens very good.

Course was in very good condition considering the weather this winter. A few boggy parts but nothing worse than you'd expect. The course was a little on the boring side, water and sand could've come into play a bit more but overall it was a very good course for the price. Will probably play again.
