What The Club Says
The Woolston Manor course was designed using the natural features of the land, in particular the river Roding which meanders throughout the course. Neil Coles MBE and David Williams designed the 18 hole championship course which was opened in the spring of 1994. The course measures 6510 yards from the white tees with a par of 72. The legendary Gary Player described it as one of the best young courses that he had ever played - praise indeed!

Interesting
Good course in good condition seeing the dry weather of late. Interesting layout with lots of water & plenty of bunkers to navigate. Tee boxes could do with a little work, some a bit uneven but this only a small gripe. All staff & members very friendly, didn't have any food just drinks, but what food I saw looked good. This was my first visit here but won't be my lastReviewer Rating

Flooded bunkers
Woolston Manor Golf Club is in the Roding Valley with several holes crossing the river. It is also well known for having a lot of bunkers. Unfortunately we played the day after a day of heavy rain and nearly all the bunkers were flooded. The only bunker in good condition was the one by the 18th green adjacent to the clubhouse. The course is quite tight in addition to a lot of water hazards, so doesn't really suit players who are not accurate with their drives / approach shots. It is very challenging and in normal summer conditions would be much more playable.Reviewer Rating

Really Great
Woolaston Manor is a great course with an excellent bar and food area. The course is challenging with many strategic bunkers, trees and the occasional water hazard.
The only downside is that the bunkers need attention. More dirt than sand which made playing them even more difficult.

Sort the bunkers
The bunkers had no sand in them or were churned up as if under construction, but no signs saying any were GUR, and the Pro shop made no mention of the state of the bunkers when booking. Them charging standard price when all the bunkers are unplayable is a bit ridiculous - it's the height of summer; if the course is undergoing major works, this should be made clear and a discount on the green fee given.Reviewer Rating
