What the club says: This 18 hole park land course threads its way through magnificent mature trees and provides a challenge that is mastered by few. Its unique Manor Clubhouse is surrounded by a 12th Century moat, occupied by two deceptively serene white swans.
The extended course was designed by Gaunt & Marnock and incorporates modern specification greens which provide excellent playing surfaces throughout the year.
Whilst not extremely long by modern standards the 6008 yards have stood the test of time.

Very average
Played after reading good reviews online, the condition was not bad for November but 2 winter greens for no apparent reason. The other greens bobbly.Just a very average layout with no real signature holes. The new 9 are much better than the old 9 but that isn't saying much. Overall fairly short and easy.
Worth about 15 quid on teeofftimes but no more than that sadly.

Keep it Hidden
I didnt think much of this golf course during my travels up north, ok for a bit of fun but nothing special in the slightest hence a fair rating

Friendly
Our golf society played this course for the first time and we will probably return again. We had a friendly welcome.
It had been raining heavily the day before but still played on the summer greens.
There was 22 of us and we all had a great days Golf which was finished off with pie & chips & sweet all washed down with a pint or two.

Deceptively challenging
You don't get an easy introduction here with a 200 yd par three, narrow long green guarded by a bunker atop a steep slope on the lower side and a canal to the higher side, this is indicative of the course, you can't just bang it and chip on most holes, course management is key.The clubhouse is surrounded by an 11th century moat and is frequented by welcoming members and staff who are rightly proud of this interesting club.

Good course
This course is hidden away and pretty hard to find. Its obvious it is a really nice course. Unfortunately we played it after some high winds and bad weather which made it extremely boggy underfoot. I know this is true of many parkland courses but this was more than you would usually expect. One of our group had played it before in spring and said it was superb in nice confitions, which was easy to see how it would be. Would recommend but preferably in good weather(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 90 Handicap: 22.1)
