Always great to play

2nd time playing Wigan GC in an open competition. Friendly welcome in clubhouse and pro shop. Good breakfast. Good practice area. Course in great condition although a few holes had tee mats in play due to new tee beds not quite ready for use. Greens immaculate. Fairly flat course with some nice looking holes. Always worth playing Wigan.

Unbelievable course, facilities, layout and conditions. Despite the rain it was still a quality day and probably my most enjoyable round I’ve ever played.

A hidden gem

2nd time playing this course and even better this time around. Beautiful setting and really well kept course. Some of the fringe rough is more like actual rough but that is really nit-picking. Fairways and greens lovely. Will play again!

early start at Wigan

Absolutely love this course, personally find the 1st 9 very challenging (don't know why). In superb condition, greens a little slow today with the rain but thoroughly enjoyed the round, great company (banter).

Nice course, worth playing

Played Wigan GC for first time in one of their open events. Well organised, friendly welcome in clubhouse. No pro shop on site. Good practice facilities. Course in excellent condition, greens true but not too quick. A few blind holes from tee, a couple of tricky par 3s, especially the 1st hole. A bit of walking between some greens and the next tee. Food and drink also good, nice outside sitting area overlooking the "moat" that runs around the elegant clubhouse. Well worth a visit for sure

Golf Society opening venue

Played with a Society and although not the cheapest around the course was great and considering the recent weather the greens especially were in fantastic condition.
I would definitely recommend Hesketh GC.

Friendly

Our golf society played this course for the first time and we will probably return again.
We had a friendly welcome.
It had been raining heavily the day before but still played on the summer greens.
There was 22 of us and we all had a great days Golf which was finished off with pie & chips & sweet all washed down with a pint or two.

Deceptively challenging

You don't get an easy introduction here with a 200 yd par three, narrow long green guarded by a bunker atop a steep slope on the lower side and a canal to the higher side, this is indicative of the course, you can't just bang it and chip on most holes, course management is key.
The clubhouse is surrounded by an 11th century moat and is frequented by welcoming members and staff who are rightly proud of this interesting club.
