What the club says: Founded in 1909 the golf course and clubhouse is located on the south side of Oldham, Greater Manchester in a conservation area known as the Garden Suburb. This once semi-moorland course has been modified over the last 100 years and now boasts several tree lined fairways and many added bunkers. The course is set in 62 acres of land which probably makes It one of the smallest 18 hole courses in acreage in the North West. However don't be fooled by the size, with its small greens and narrow fairways it is still a testing course for all levels of golfers.

Tees & Greens?
Played on a lovely sunny day after some rain over a few days. The tees and greens left a lot to be desired. Most tees patchy and bare with some winter tees in operation. Majority, if not all greens had bare patches which left the surface bumpy. On the plus side, fairways were great and well mowed. Staff, as always, pleasant and friendly. For ?20, not bad but will probably give it a miss until conditions improve.Reviewer Rating

Great course worth playing
First time playing Werneth, friendly welcome in pro shop. Practice putting green and practice net near 1st tee. Course in great condition for time of year, greens very true and in good nick for November. Decent enough layout in such a small area, a few waits to be had as some greens near tee beds etc. Quite flat with only a few steps to be negotiated when crossing the gully that comes into play on a few holes. Couple of tough par 4s on back nine, 11th & 13th where drives have to be long and straight to give chance of reaching green in 2. Overall a really enjoyable round for the money, will be back for sureReviewer Rating

Small but good
Although quite short, it's a good course. Tight in places, tree lined & with a ravine running across the middle of the course it definitely has you thinking at times.A bit more signage would have helped. Make the 4th & 9th tees clearer. Signage after the 7th green (Don't go to the tee you can see from the green, go down to the right) & signage back to the 18th tee from the 17th green would help. Also if your on the 9th tee, it's the fairway down to the right you're aiming for.
Overall though a good experience. Greens are excellent, the course is in good condition after the rain & the locals & pro were friendly.
Don't be put off by the length this is a very nice course & great value.

Great course
After reading some reviews before we booked the course, I was a little sceptical about the length and difficulty of the course, being as it's not overly long. I needn't have worried. It's a fantastic course, with plenty of challenging holes that will have you using most, if not all of your clubs. The course itself after days of heavy rain was in great condition, and the greens were some of the best I've played on all summer. The ravine/gulley which crosses the course, gives and makes shot selection on each hole a different problem. Yet for the brave among us, can sometimes (If the winds with you) challenge the distances. Even the par three's are good in their settings, making you think of the shot/club needed. All round the club and course were well worth a visit and it's a course now having found and played it, will be playing again.Reviewer Rating
