What The Club Says
Founded in 1892 Oldham Golf Club is literally on the edge of the town and at the foot of the Pennines. The course is part moorland and the views from 'top o' course' are quite magnificent, the Cheshire Plain and Jodrell Bank always visible and on clear days the Welsh mountains away to the west come into view.

Hilly in parts
After a long spell of dry weather, course generally in good condition. Greens a little patchy but you could see work had been carried out and sprinklers had been in use. The back nine is a bit of a physical challenge but the views are worth it from the top of the course. Overall, for the cost of the round (?17) a real bargain. Would always go back.Reviewer Rating

Hilly Course
A fairly benign first 8 holes, then work your way uphill with some testing short holes until the 17th which is a great downhill par 4. Greens were a bit uneven but hardly surprising after the very wet weather must have prevented usual maintenance.Reviewer Rating

Issue with booking and paying on line
The course was great but only after I had calmed after being given the third degree in the pro shop. I had booked and paid for the tee time on line through golf now. When checking in before teeing off the chap in the shop was very insistent that I tell him how much I had paid on line as the fees were set out in front of him which were considerably more than the price I had paid on line - the implication being that he was going to charge me extra. I refused to tell him how much I had paid and explained that if he wasn’t happy with the on line price he should take that up with golf now as I had booked and paid in good faith. So, beware if you are asked how much you paid for an on line booking - the chap was quite aggressive and the whole thing was totally unacceptable and so do not intend to visit this club again - even if it was for free.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 86 Handicap: 16.2)

Quirky but good
I have to be honest, I don't think Oldham will appeal to all golfers. It's short, it's quirky, there are no par 5's, there are a number of blind shots & you need to be a mountaineer in places. However I loved it. It's in absolutely superb condition, the greens are fantastic.
It brings you in gently with a few short holes which are relatively flat, but still with some good tests of your strategy.
Then from the 9th hole it's a different golf course, it's steep, it's undulating & it's challenging. There are a few blind holes, but for me they added to the experience.
Stood on the 17th tee at the top of the course, the views across Manchester, Rivington & Darwen Tower are breathtaking.
I'll definitely be back.

Good course, very hilly with a lot of blind pins
Enjoyed this course. The front 9 is quite flat and easy going with minimal challenge (a couple of small gullies from the tee box to fairway). The back 9 is very hilly/steep with practically no flat fairways (sloping left to right and right to left). There are also a lot of bling holes so you will have to really know your distances or play pretty conservative.Reviewer Rating
