What the club says: Wernddu is an undulating parkland course with magnificent views over Abergavenny and the Black Mountains. A long front nine combined with a shorter back nine provide a challenging round of golf for golfers of all standards.
There are magnificent views over the Usk Valley and the seven hills of Abergavenny. The course is a par 69 and at 5,572 yards is a good test of golf. Water comes into play on six holes and the final hole whilst only at a par 3, is an outstanding finishing hole.

BAD DON'T GO
A dismal experience! The food here is absolutely terrible, leaving a bitter taste in your mouth. Lackluster options and poorly prepared dishes make dining an unpalatable affair. As for the golfing experience, it's dreadfully boring. The course lacks excitement, with monotonous layouts and uninspiring challenges. Excellent golf course & well maintained, also this is a golf course with a caravan and camping site attached, if you stay on site greenfee's are half price.

Well worth a visit.£20 a round if you camp on site £10.
Well maintained course few good hazards on holes, water, dykes,
Even saw dust in a wooden box for divet marks on tee boxes.

As a member of Wernddu it has seen some changes over the years. Considering all the VERY bad weather it has seen over the winter months the course has stood up well to it and a credit must go to the greenkeepers and staff that keep the course in good condition. The greens could do with a little bit of work but I don't think the weather has help it that much but should see improvements in the coming dryer months.Round played: Aptil 2016 - Score: 92 Handicap: 26.0

Firstly we should bear in mind this is a budget course (playing with a member it cost me £10 for 18 holes!)
The greens are a little "wooly" but the overall condition of the fairways and tee boxes was good.

Played on Thursday 3rd April for £20, however weather was damp, wet & overcast, so views were somewhat limited, but friendly welcome in Pro shop and on course.
Greens were bumpy, slow and total guess work for the first time visitor. The second is 540 yards uphill and played into the wind, followed by a 110 degree dogleg par 4. Course improves after that with a good par 4's at 4 & 8 and a gambling par 5 at no 6. However a few too many walk back to the tees, did not help.
Last 8 holes are much more fun, which reward accuracy rather than power. the par 3's at 14 & 18 are good.

A pleasant course,quite tight with some sharp dog legs. Fine views of the hills around Abergavenny and very reasonable £10 with County Card. Warm welcome BUT greens are not good and fairways need work

A lovely course to play with amazing views from start to finish. Given a warm welcome on arrival, and while the clubhouse isn't the most modern or posh, the quality of service, food and beer after the round was second to none. Will definately play here again, and recommend

The course is extremely good for learners and intermiediates. The greens need some work on them but, again are very good to learn your trade. The course consists of a short back nine (par 3's and 4's between 160yds & 300yds) and a long front nine (par 4's and 5's between 200yds and 600yds). This is great if you just want to play 9 or 18 holes. If you choose to play 9 then you can choose to play either the front or the back and both have their challenges.
There are stunning views of the Black Mountains and various valleys around the Monmouthshire area, all over this course and it even has it's own family of swans residing in the large pond located on the 18th.
It has a good driving range with cheap bucket of balls (34 for £1) and many bays.
The rest of the facilities need some work, the clubhouse is small and a little dingy but don't let that put you off as the course is very good for the price you will pay. 18 holes cost £18, 9 holes cost £12.

I have been playing Wernddu now for the last 4 years and loving it, I have tried many other courses around the surrounding areas and not really having a bad thing to say about the others courses, I will always go back to WernDdu for the really mixed and well designed holes you will find from the course.
The staff here are great and will welcome you with great service and great food.
I will highly recommend this course, so give it a go, you will like it.
