What the club says: The Monmouthshire is a course that suits all levels of golfer and indeed all ages. The course is set against the beautiful scenery of the Usk valley. It is surrounded by the Blorenge, Sugar Loaf and Skirrid Mountains. It is a superb example of a mature parkland course which, from the back tees can be as tough as it is beautiful, and it is said to be the oldest 18 hole golf course in the County of Monmouthshire. The River Usk runs alongside the 6th hole and it is bordered by agricultural land which gives a real country feeling.

Very enjoyable Course

Dry day, good weather conditions, greens excellent for time of year. Course relatively empty so play was not held up at all.

This is a course of two halves, the first half is up & down (the 6, 7, 8, 9) are all running parallel and longish straight holes. Whereas the back nine has more shapes and elevation changes. The greens were very receptive to approach shots, the ball rolled well on the green. The fairways were in good condition, the rough was not too punishing unless you were on the edge of the course.

Frustrating that leaves covered semi rough and large parts of some fairways that made hunting for your ball (even from relatively good straight shots) difficult at times. Greens excellent and good challenging interesting course.

Despite being born and raised in Abergavenny, until today I had never played my home town club. During my golfing "career" I have been lucky enough to play some of the best courses in the world. I must say that it was a real pleasure to play a course in excellent shape surrounded by world class scenery.

A great test of golf proving it does not have to be overly long to be an enjoyable challenge. We had a great day here, good value and course was in excellent conflation. Particularly enjoyed the views of the area and had a good meal in the clubhouse afterwards. Terecess a friendly atmosphere, really welcoming in the clubhouse afterwards. Thinking if taking a society here next year. The pro shop was very well stocked and the pro was very welcoming and couldn't do more make sure we had an enjoyable game. Wish we had more time to look around the shop, it was well presented and stocked. Recommend this course as a must visit in the area.

A superb course in a beautiful setting. The greens were fast. The staff were great, they even kept the kitchen open when 12 of us arrived for lunch as they were closing.
