The course is designed on chalkland and is never on temporary greens or tees

I’ve played all of the courses around my area looking for a new club. When I went to play a few weeks ago everything felt great. Warm reception, lovely bar and stunning course. Very much a parkland course but don’t be fooled, I lost a few balls in the rough even when I thought I knew where they were.Reviewer Rating

The course is defined by the rough, so it was playing a lot easier this time of year due to it being cut back.
I honestly don’t feel like there is a better course in Hertfordshire for all year round golf.
Highly recommended.

Lovely course in beautiful scenery
Having lived in the area all my life, when invited to play at Stocks I was surprised I had never heard of it. On viewing the website, it looked as though I was in for a treat and I wasn't disappointed. This members only course was a feast for the eyes, with the rolling Chiltern hills on view from almost all holes, and some terrific views from tee boxes and great driving holes.The par 5s are the most spectacular element of the course, with the tee shots calling out for your driver and some serious hang time. Interesting par 3s and a mix of tough and risk reward par 4s make for a great variety of holes, with the old clubhouse overlooking the turn and the new clubhouse watching those teeing off on 1 and further afield, holing out on 18 - a truly epic closing par 5 where you will fancy making birdie. A feature of the course is the doglegs, of which there are plenty, which really adds something, and although the lack of trees defining those turns is disappointing, the club have made up for it with out of bounds markers preventing too much corner cutting. Greens were running very true and beautifully presented, although they were a little flat and straightforward.
All in all, a beautiful afternoon of golf at Stocks and one that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who is lucky enough to be invited.

Course in great condtion
Despite all the recent rain, this course (laying on chalk) clearly drains well and it was nice to come off with so little mud on me or my golf equipment.A year a go a great friend of mine who was a member here sadly passed away so this round was a tribute to him and thanks for all the good times we enjoyed together at Stocks.

A good winters day for golf
Very enjoyable, was very cold but settled, course was in remarkable condition, no temp greens.(Round played: Jan 2018 - Score: 95 Handicap: 14)
