What The Club Says

Steeped in history, immaculately kept and with dramatic views over Rickmansworth and Moor Park Mansion, Tricky Ricky as it is known by golfers for good reason, is an 18 hole Par 65 course which tests golfers from the first tee to last green.

Originally part of the Moor Park Estate, the course was designed by famous architect Harry Shapland Colt.

Read how great the course was on the greens & fairways. Certainly agree with the former but still so many worn & hard patches on the fairways which was very frustrating playing out of divets with the fairways pretty hard ground.
19th is always a pleasure. Great staff. Could really more practice space ie a putting green but you get good value for what you pay. Newbies will find it tough for sure with little margin for error especially if you miss where you should be on the fairway as the ball runs off a lot with the camber. Not sure about the new teebox on the 13th. Teeing up was tricky & a grass cut would be good.

Winter works

Lots of mud, bobbly greens, 16 temporary tees but no temp greens. Muddy & sodden in patches but it works & trolleys are allowed. At least it’s open!

Despite the course being relatively short in overall distance which even off the whites is under 5000 yards, the challenges are numerous. As you often read in pro tips - accuracy is essential & a well protected vertical par 3 followed by the only par 5 & then the #1 on the index is quite the opening. But it's enormously satisfying to get a good score on & the holes are varied & challenging thereafter. Another plus is the speed of getting round & a 2.5 hour round is not unheard of. The Greens are excellent & although there are some signs of autumn with leaf piles & early muddiness near the fairways it is a course that can be played throughout the year.

The course played ok (for me, 21 handicap). The greens were mostly ok, a few had GUR or mud patches, but it is a public course. The challenge is as normal, quite hard; it is very narrow in some areas and some of the Par 3's are Very Hard! The two things that stuck out to me, were one, the slow play; 4 hours 25minutes for our round, which is awful. There was a competition on, but even so, there is no excuse, for looking for balls over 3 minutes, scoring and chatting on the green and general slow play. The second issue, not so big, was divots and pitch marks.... there were a lot of them!

Condition disgusting

Worse condition i ever played. Every tee was terrible, no grass, all torn up. Greens were a waste of time. Buggy ruined the game as the limiter would not let us anywhere remotely near. It even went of as we left one of the tees. Just to add insult to injury, the staff couldn't care less and were sarcastic

Absolute waste of money, DO NOT PLAY

Conditions ruins it

It's hard to feel ripped off for £27.50 on a summer sunday and yet the state of the course leads me to feel this way. Tee boxes are bare and muddy and uneven. Greens have patches and mud everywhere, and are incredibly slow.
It's a shame because this is a fun course in terms of layout. Obviously very short but presents fun challenges. The condition just ruins the experience.
