What the club says: Retford Golf Club is situated to the south-west of the market town of East Retford. Road access is very good. Via the A1, from the south, we are 4 miles north from Markham Moor and from the north, 3 miles east from Ranby. There are good links to the M1, M18 and M180.
The Club was founded in 1920, originally six holes designed by Tom Williamson, and soon extended to nine holes. In 1990 a further nine holes were opened to give an 18 hole, 6409 yards, par 72 and SSS 72 course.

interesting parkland layout. Some long walks between tee and greens. Well maintained and conditioned. Greens in good nick, very true. many multi-layered.

5 Really enjoyed our round, 11 th was on a temp due to flooding but that?s nature?s Faust not the clubs. We finished at around 5 pm and there was still plenty of people out on the course but the bar was shut which was a shame

5 We had to play off mats which is understandable at this time of year but in general the course was in good condition. We had booked a tee time just the day before but the golf pro in the shop slotted us in between to other big gangs which was much appreciated.

5 A varied and interesting course, especially the Par 3s and Par 4s. Given the awful weather recently it was to an extent amazing that the course was even open, but it was, and it seems to soak up bad weather very well. A very friendly welcome from the Pro's shop, and great meal/bar facilities too (recommend the Hunters Chicken).

5 visited with a society on 27/08/16. The course is not the longest but accuracy off the tee is required if you are to score well. The course was in good condition considering the heavy rain that fell the night before. The greens were fast and true and a little irritating due to their subtle borrows (not the greenkeepers fault!) The bunkers were consistent but looked a little unmanicured around the edges.
The course has a mixture of shortish par 5's, interesting par 3's and enjoyable par 4's. I would recommend this course to the beginner or seasoned golfer. All the staff encountered were polite and friendly and the members didn't seem to alarmed to see 20 visitors on their first tee. The bacon sarnie and reduced green topped it all off.
