A varied and interesting course, especially the Par 3s and Par 4s. Given the awful weather recently it was to an extent amazing that the course was even open, but it was, and it seems to soak up bad weather very well. A very friendly welcome from the Pro's shop, and great meal/bar facilities too (recommend the Hunters Chicken).

visited with a society on 27/08/16. The course is not the longest but accuracy off the tee is required if you are to score well. The course was in good condition considering the heavy rain that fell the night before. The greens were fast and true and a little irritating due to their subtle borrows (not the greenkeepers fault!) The bunkers were consistent but looked a little unmanicured around the edges.
The course has a mixture of shortish par 5's, interesting par 3's and enjoyable par 4's. I would recommend this course to the beginner or seasoned golfer. All the staff encountered were polite and friendly and the members didn't seem to alarmed to see 20 visitors on their first tee. The bacon sarnie and reduced green topped it all off.

Excellent course, a few holes were quite tough, grass on the fairways were quite long, could do with a cut, greens were very good considering all the rain we have had, these ran really true and quick.
Pro in the shop was very welcoming seeing as this was my first time here. Two lady customers (members) in the shop were very polite and welcoming and told me a little about the course. Members were very sociable and very polite. Clubhouse very good, nice to see out of the window onto the 18th green, good food and beverages. Good choice of golf course.

If you want interesting, challlenging combined with great hospitality and facilities then Retford has it all. 11 of us at various levels from Stanedge golf club have played today 30.12.2013. We have commented on how much we enjoyed the course despite poor weather. Only 2 temp greens all others in great condition and running very true. The course itself is reasonably dry for time of year and well manicured. Most holes have somthing different and challenging to offer especially the par 3,s. We had bacon cobs and coffee on arrival, 18 holes, steak pie for main meal all for £23. Would we play again? Easy answer, we cant wait to get back in the summer for a full day.

Brilliant course. Every other course you are up to your knees in mud, Retford is like summer golf!

Lovely condition greens and most fairways for early October.
Confusing layout in some places,no map on the scorecard. Best to take photo of course as you head to first tee.

Fantastic course worth visiting

Society day
The breakfast was very good the staff where very polite n nothing was to much trouble the course is a thinking course but the fairways need a cut n the first cut was to long but the greens were fantastic they where fast n true really goodReviewer Rating

Played as a visitor - member at local club but had heard good things about Retford.
Fantastic reception - good discount on purchases and green fee and pro very welcoming.
Members very friendly - spoke to us during the round giving advice on some holes. Course was lovely - good condition and hole 7 a highlight. Lots of interesting doglegs/changes in elevation. Greens very fast and true.
Can highly recommend.
Only thing to improve might be the menu choices - had a toastie which was okay, service again very friendly.
