Was a member here in the 80s through to 2004. Was a brilliant course and greens well maintained. The council have let this course go to the dogs. Greens are terrible now. Trees need cutting back, rough is like nothing u have seen. Just badly maintained. I used to live this course. Bring back the original tees from the back which where in place in the 80s.
Sadly I won't play this course again

Pretty Nine hole course.

I enjoyed my visit to Pennington Golf Club this week. It is a pretty Nine hole course with something for everyone. Booking was easy and green fees are very good value. However the greens are pretty poor and some are awful.

Cheap & cheerful...

Nice layout with some good holes. Perfect for beginners or practice rounds.
Greens are well maintained head round, however poor drainage on certain fairways causes problems in we weather. But value for money, it's always worth a round!

Very Boggy today. No run on any shots at all. But nice and quiet with only a few people out.

Course is OK. A couple of longer holes. 3rd Tee changed now from straight to a dogleg which is annoying. Fairway grass a little long with alot of daisies that makes it hard to find ball. I found 6 in 9 holes all in the fairway amidst daisies. Nice and cheap and much better than going to a driving range. Quite scenic and dry at this time of year. Get a Wigan Leisure card and have 9 holes for a fiver.

Challenging course, for both beginners and lower handicappers. Excellent value for money. If wanting to play, you should play during a dry weather period as the course becomes waterlogged. Greens are in good condition all year around.

Condition of the course isn't great, but this is a well used municipal. Very water logged after rain.
Great value for a beginner like myself. There are no club facilities and have only given fair because the service staff are always welcoming. There is a burger van on the car park that can offer tea coffee and soup to warm up after a cold round.

This is a tricky little course with a number of holes having a brook running through. For a high handicapper like myself, these are usually holes where I incur penalties through lost balls. Overall, a well kept course with regularly changing pin positions. It can be a busy course on sunny days, but quieter in the very early morning or winter months.

Played last week. They do well with the money the council spend. Fairways and rough are good. Greens need a lot doing to em but at 4.50 a round can you complain?
